Update: we had another great meal, and the server asked us to review, so I'm just here to let you know: Excellent service The food was probably better this time than it has been in years We ordered multiple spice levels and actually received them correctly! You could tell which one was which, and we were so excited and thankful they listened and actually gave us the heat 🖤
If you haven't been in a while, come back! You won't regret it.
Original (still true): This new location is AMAZING! The space is so fresh, crisp, and clean. The decor is beautiful! The menu is also updated including things like a vegetable appetizer sampler and a bread basket with multiple types! We are fans of Clay Pit to begin with, but we're so excited about this new space. Not only is it closer to home (and that means less traffic), but it's also just a much more beautiful space! There's nothing wrong with the old space. I loved it, too, but this one is even better!
Look, the food is just as if not more delicious at this space, too. Level 4 was on point. The veg sampler and seek kebab appetizers were delicious. Our chicken saag was divine and the okra do payza was exactly what we needed. The bread basket was delightful as well!
I did eat the naan, but I have heard that their lunch buffet is all GF. Call ahead and ask, but that's...
Read moreWe have been to the clay pit several times in the past. It’s nothing special and not as good as the alternatives in Nashville and Smyrna but it’s local and quick and easy to run in and grab the lunch buffet. The price has steadily increased, but so has everything. However, we went out for father’s day lunch. Four adults and one child. No menu given as we wanted to be quick, so opted for the buffet. Asked for 2 cokes and 3 waters (from one water jug). Everyone had one plate of food from the buffet and two of us had a dessert, also from the buffet. Some naan bread was brought to the table but it was really too late as we had already pretty much finished our meals. One of the cokes was refilled. We requested the check. We couldn’t believe it when we were told there was an 18% service charge added. Are you kidding me? Four adults and a child and we served ourselves??? First of all, 5 people is an average family, not a large party. Secondly, we were never informed of this before we ate. And…. SERVICE CHARGE FOR WHAT EXACTLY????? We served ourselves the meals. Obviously, we would have left a tip, but to insist on 18%? Absolute greed for mediocre food. They lost...
Read moreReview revised -- see below The Clay Pit proved a wonderful lunchtime experience for me and my wife. Their daily buffet is awesome - lots of vegetarian options and everything was delicious! My wife ordered off the menu because she wanted the Okra Do Pyaza and Sweet Corn Soup, which was one of the best tasting soups either of us have had. The garlic naan was hot and delicious and the service was on point. Highly recommend!!
**Update: Dropping two stars from service and atmosphere because we went back yesterday at 2pm for the buffet and the containers for three of my favorite dishes were empty or nearly so: palak paneer, navratan korma and paneer tikka masala. At 2:15 (45 mins before the buffet closed), I asked the waitress if they will put out more palak paneer and paneer tikka masala. She said she didn't think so but would ask the kitchen. They did add another bowlful (not a complete pan) of the palak paneeer but never replenished the other two dishes and they ran out of rice before 2:30, which they also refused to refill. Severely...
