Woody's Drive-In — Restaurant in Murray

Our entire family has always really loved Woody's. Since the change in ownership, however, the food (value & quality), service, and cleanliness have gone downhill. I tried to be patient and see if the new owners would find their rhythm and improve. Tonight I finally decided I need to say something.

We opted to pick up dinner tonight because it's been a bear of a day. I pulled in with my son and there were only two other customers there. When I unrolled my window to order, I noticed a couple of flies entered my van. After we ordered, a young blonde man came out of the building carrying a bag of trash. There wasn't room in the trash can, so he threw it on the ground near the can, still wearing his food handling gloves, and walked back inside. 🤢

When our food finally came out, the shake was melting all over the cup. I mentioned it as the girl was handing me the cup and she just looked at me. I grabbed an extra napkin from my center console to clean it up and she handed me the bag of burgers, saying, "there's more napkins in there" - cool, but my hands are covered in chocolate and y'all stapled the bag shut. If I get to those napkins, the bag will be covered in chocolate. She offered to bring another cup after I paid. I fumbled with my credit card (which, you guessed it, is now covered in chocolate) and she stared at me while saying, "It's going to ask you for a tip." 😯 ...for this?!? Maybe help me clean up the mess you just gave me first? Maybe then I might feel inclined? I'm usually a big tipper bc I have worked a lot of food service jobs. Not today.

She went back in and brought out a cup the exact same size - which solves the sticky cup problem, but doesn't stop the shake from continuing to melt down the sides all over my car and clothing. She didn't bring a cloth or any napkins. I was stuck trying to take the cup from her with a napkin (the one I provided) in my hand covered in chocolate. I said that I needed a moment bc I didn't have anywhere to put it and she just stared at me. Cool. Got it. I said, "I guess I'll try to save some of the car clean up and sacrifice my clothes. Geez." And she was just like, "Yeah, sorry" as I had to shove the sticky napkin in my jacket pocket! Yikes.

This whole time the car window was down so there are even more flies in my car now.

I got home, handed off the extremely empty shake to my daughter, grabbed damp paper towels and tried to get the chocolate out of my center console. It took long enough that making dinner would have been cheaper and faster. My food was cold by the time I was able to sit down to eat. I have attached a photo of the overflowing garbage and my burnt, cold cheeseburger - clearly a victim of shrinkflation.

Woody's used to be the pride of the neighborhood. We have brought friends there from out of town dozens of times. Now I would be...

I drove clear across town to savor Woody's DELICIOUS PATTY MELT! Who remembers PattyMelts..not many joi ts anymore if at all have PattyMelt on the menu, BUT WOODY'S DOES & it takes you back to when Reubens were also a go too hot sandwich :) Let me be clear..an original Patty Melt is served ONLY on Rye Bread & with Swiss Cheese, ( NOT YELLOW) cheese..savory soft tender grilled onions, a nice high grade ground beef & sauce is not needed because the flavor & butter soaked in your tender grilled hot onions,combined with the melting swiss cheese & the flavors & drippings from the fried ground beef all together laying between the awesome slices of soft fresh Rye ...once all combined & hot provide you a symphony with full Orchestra right there in your mouth! To elevate that heavenly flavor even more order Woody's Onion Rings with homemade fry sauce & finish the home run with one of their savory malts or shakes! If you have never treated yourself or someone you love dearly....run..not walk..but make your next meal away from home at Woody's!

..HUGE amazing menu with their own bells & whistles that take each menu item over the top! Sit & relax in your car & speak your order in speaker & before you know it the nicest folks will bring your piping (ALWAYS HOT) food to your window & you can continue to relax, visit. Crank up some tunes & avoid lines, masks, people & enjoy a little bit of heaven at your pace! Lol...No need to dress up..no bra & PJ's are accepted & you will be waited on!..lol. Please take a few minutes when pull in your spot & study the amazing menu...maybe step out of the Burger Box & give their HALIBUT Fish&Chips or Taco Salad a whirl! P.S...If you like Fried Pickles please order them & take a order to go to surprise someone..They are cut & fried to perfection...delicious spiced right breading fried perfect..never greasy..delicious side treat you just don't see on menu's anywhere...Please..if able, have a tip ready when they bring your delicious meal. I promise you will become a regular & will NOT be disappointed.Owned by same family & you get your monies worth...switch it up & order something new each week..I can honestly say...I have NEVER been disappointed & been hanging there for 20+ years! Remember..allow time to study that huge & amazingly fresh & delicious menu & try new things. I am proud to say " THIS AIN'T NO AVERAGE PROCESSED, HEAT LAMP WARMED BLAH TASTE ALIKE CRAPP BORING BURGER SHOP" ENJOY!...

Ive been going here for years, My Mom worked here, My Aunt worked here and this was the spot we would go as grandkids with My grandpa before he passed and Ive continued this tradition with my wife as Its always hit the spot

However today is the first time Ive been back since Peter(Original Owner) sold his business to the new owner. Let me say I was very disappointed;

We walked in Staff was kinda ignoring the line of customers they had took them about 10mins to help the first person In line keep in mind there were at Least 4 of us in line waiting and watching them. Placed our order with ease, The boy with blonde hair had just got there to start work and immediately started helping the line after washing his hands Top notch service Sir🫡 We waited about 10mins for the food which is a wonderful wait but for the quality of food we received not so much, We ordered two Malibu Chicken Sandwiches,

The chicken is advertised as a Grilled Chicken, Upon taking a bite I was met with quite a bit of resistance, The middle of the sandwich was still a FROZEN!?! Consistency, If you are serving frozen chicken that is precooked you gotta at least de-thaw it correctly.

So I went to the counter and asked if I could get some bacon burgers instead because the chicken wasn’t dethawed correctly.

The Boy with Blonde hair apologized and was quick with getting a replacement going again wonderful service sir, You got some great work ethic, Give him a raise however After he let the back know they denied that it wasn’t thawed correctly(At this point I was in the lobby sitting and heard them all the way from the furthest booth) He said the chicken looks frozen; they continued to disagree and said “whatever” to remaking some burgers

Upon receiving our burgers, They were quite small and not at all what I remembered eating in the past. On top of that the bacon was burnt, My wife and I at this point didn’t want to bother them anymore ate what little food we had Enjoyed our Shakes and left.

Quality has gone down quite a bit and unfortunately I don’t think I will be returning. This use to be amazing food and From what I experienced today it is not the Good Quality it was that the previous ownership provided...
