Casa Jiménez overall is a solid place to eat. Their buffet alone is guaranteed to put out of commission anyone that orders it. With 24 items to choose from, and a bowl of their tasty albondigas soup (just one), they kind of know very well their game plan. Is something like this: the first plate ordered from the buffet includes a very delicious refried beans and rice, plus 3 items of the 24 items one can choose from. When that first plate shows up is very generously served, and in our case, prior to it, they brought 2 fresh basket of chips and salsa, and needless to say, I finished one basket before I could say watch out! Being a party of 3, two lovely ladies and yours truly, it also was a very generous amount come to think about it. So when my choice came, which included Beef Tamal, Carnitas, and Chile Verde, I was already heavily taxed from having enjoyed their somewhat spicy salsa and fresh made tortillas. One of the 🥰 cutie pies also ordered from the buffet option, Chile Relleno, 2Taquitos with fresh guacamole and sour cream, and a Beef Tamale. Halfway into that first round, the signs of a loosing battle were apparent to the naked eye. Here I would like to say that their regular cold water was actually of good taste. Big points for that! The second cutie did not opted for the buffet, chose instead a $7.99 Chicken Burrito, which when it arrived it was seriously loaded with shredded chicken. They apparently do not cut corners in Casa Jimenez, because a Carne Asada Burrito I ordered to take home for one of the nicest people in the planet, was loaded with soft carne asada as well. Not at all like most other places that by the time they add lettuce, rice, beans, and what not, you find the meat in meager amounts. I thought that elevated Casa Jimenez, for not being cheap. At $13.99 the plate for the buffet, and the unusual, but well received fact that they prepare the food and bring it, none of the long lines and food under heat lamps here, I would say that considering is all a person can eat, and even though we failed miserably in the next serving department, it is a nice deal. The place was very busy on a Tuesday night, being the well known Taco Tuesday, many patrons the place had. I am not going to say that their food was to die for, the carnitas being a little dried, the dark sauce they put on the tamales not a favorite, but everyone working at the time was extremely nice, and that certainly counts for us. The menu had many more expensive dishes to be savored with any luck at a later date. Ordered also a couple of Flans 🍮 to go, at $4.99 a pop, and will not do it again, just average at best. Patricia, our server, was a beautiful Mexican powerhouse, full of life, kind and efficient, and as I stated everyone that came in contact, above average. Casa Jiménez delivered a self inducing siesta, with no serious after effects, and us being there was a...
Read moreBeen coming to this location for 3 years and never EVER have I had such horrible service out waitress just basically ignoring us and giving minimal service. The table next to us got seated after us and the same waitress was overly friendly to them wonder what was all about I sat for 30 min waiting for a water refill but the table next to us there chip basket was only half empty and asked them if they wanted more and just left me and my wife to sit and wait never to check on us just brought our food then asked if we needed anything we'll if you would have asked sooner instead of basically acting like we didn't exist. Management you need to fix this because I'm pretty sure she showed you our recipe I kindly wrote at the bottom do better. I'm kinda scepectal about returning I'll never give a business my money if that's the way you're staff is doing to be from now on ill definitely be giving my money somewhere else. Our normal waiter is and has always been tentative and have I never seen any of his customers be treated so poorly. The times I do come I want our normal waiter just for the simple fact he had always treated his customers extremely well. This just solidifies my not...
Read moreCame for a conference in Murrieta from Florida, and while exploring the town we passed by this restaurant. We looked it up, saw some reviews and decided to stop by and have lunch. It was pretty good or just okay, I have mix feelings. We ordered create your own combos. The taquito that were ordered with one of the combos, either the tortilla that was fried or the chicken that was stuffed in it was spoiled. My wife spit it out after taking a bite. We let the waitress know, so she was aware and said she would let “them” know, but that is all that was done. It was never remade or no one came out to address the issue. We had a sope and crunchy taco and it was not bad. The sope a little soggy and tough on the bottom. The shredded chicken on it was good, and so was the sauce on the enchilada we had. Overall I give the place a 3, and that is me being nice. Like I said, I have mix feelings. I personally think the waitress thought we were lying about the taquito, maybe trying to get something free but we weren’t. It’s our first time in Cali and first time eating at Casa Jimenez. We will definitely visit Cali again, but I think it will be the last time eating at...
