On October 5th , Vaugh & Spadaccini Restaurant Group added to their collection of restaurants here in the Myrtle Beach area. As the owners of Crave Italian Oven & Bar, Sol y Luna Latin Cantina and Carolina Social bar, I had very high expectations for 357 Coastal Raw Bar (@craveitaliannorthmyrtlebeach , @craveitalianmyrtlebeach , @solylunamyrtlebeach , @carolinasocialbar , @357rawcoastalbar ) , these expectations were not only met but vastly exceeded! Located in the Grand Dunes resort area at the end of the dock, in the visitors section , right on the inter coastal waterway. 357 has been designed beautifully with a welcoming and fun atmosphere to it. Walking in there is a very large bar area with a few tables around it, the real enticing factor is the outdoor seating on the waterway over looking the Grand Dunes and their golf course, such a magnificent setting. Annie (@anniessweetstuff ) and I started with drinks of a chocolate martini for her and a margarita for me, both drinks served their purpose of quenching our thirst perfectly , Annie’s served in a lower glass then the usual martini glassware, this definitely made it easier to both bring to the table and for Annie to sip without spilling those first few drops that happens so often in the normal martini glass. Our appetizers were a dozen oysters on the half shell for me and hush puppies for Annie, my oysters were chilled and fresh and shucked perfectly, Annie’s hush puppies were amazing (according to her) they were light and airy and the lemon cinnamon honey butter just elevated them to a higher level. A Smash burger and an order of seared salmon with shrimp was our choice for our mains . Annie’s burger came out and she was surprised that it was a double paddy , cooked just under medium, she enjoyed the flavor and of course took half home, she enjoyed sweet potato fries with her burger , oh so good. My salmon served with two large shrimp on top, jasmine rice and topped with the most flavorful lemon mascarpone sauce and absolute delightful meal. All our meals were beautifully prepared , just looking at them you knew they would be delicious. Everyone at 357 was welcoming , Brady our server...
Read moreGreat location and atmosphere. Food is generally above average. Service is mixed. Went on Friday night at the end of happy hour as the place is packed , hoping we would be able to get a seat to enjoy the sunset. Since it was just 2 of us, we got a 2 top on the outside. The place was starting to empty out. 3 - 4 tops opened up within 10 minutes of our arrival. Asked the hostess if we could move there if there were no parties of 4 waiting. She said "we reserve them fo parties of 4". 5 minutes later they seated a couple at one of the tables we requested. No problem but frustrating just the same. Had oysters on the menu. Asked the server who said that they were medium sized but plump (from Maine). ordered a half dozen. They were tiny and had almost no meat in them. OK, they were fresh and tasted ok. The check came... $25 for 6 of the smallest oysters I have ever been served! Server said she would send the manager over. Never came. We left. We live in Grande Dunes. Was hopin with the new ownership it would be a great place in the neighborhood to go on a nice weather night. The check was over $150 with tip for my wife and I for light dinner (no Mains) and 2 drinks. Very disappointed. I doubt they will care as they have a great location and plenty of people to fill the small establishment. Surprised that the owner of a successful establishment like Crave would have a place that (aside from the location) is...
Read moreGreat little spot right on the Intracoastal Waterway. There’s a big, square-shaped bar right in the middle of the restaurant with regular tables as well as high tables & chairs, perfect for socializing. There’s a veranda out back as well, with high seating and an outstanding view of the waterway. Good tunes were piped into the speakers located throughout the space at a decent level, no shouting required.
We had Spicy Margaritas which were excellent and well-presented.
The food was very good; I had the smashburger with fries, and my wife had the “B Bitchin’” chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries. Both fries were very tasty, fresh, and perfectly seasoned. The beef on my two patties was delicious and cooked exactly to order; the burgers sweet served on a fresh brioche roll.
We finished up our lunch with house-made key lime pie. I can say that this was one of the best I’ve ever had, served with whipped cream & fresh strawberries on the side.
The service was attentive yet not intrusive. Our server Carly was friendly and efficient. The manager greeted us when we arrived, checked on us after the food was served, and thanked us for coming as we were leaving the restaurant.
A very nice spot indeed, and we’re sure to...
