Still Myrtle Beach’s Brunch Crown Jewel: Drift Delivers Every Time
Drift continues to raise the bar for breakfast and brunch in Myrtle Beach. Whether you're a local or just visiting, this place deserves a permanent spot on your go-to list.
Service That Shines We came in shortly after a summer storm, and even with the humidity, the outdoor patio was dry, shaded, and surprisingly comfortable. The vibe is relaxed coastal charm with just the right touch of polish. Our server Keiver was hands down the best we’ve had this trip—friendly, attentive, and genuinely great to chat with.
Food That Impresses Huevos Rancheros is still my favorite: fresh, flavorful, and satisfying without feeling heavy. Mo and I branched out this time and tried the octopus appetizer. Don’t let the tentacles intimidate you. It was tender, smoky, paired with andoulle sausages and plated like something you'd expect to see in a food magazine. Mo also loved Mango Tuna Tartare. Another standout dish: sweet, savory, and perfectly balanced.
Kid-Approved Plates JJ went all in on the adult sized hand-battered chicken and waffle and didn’t leave a crumb. Crispy, juicy, and paired with syrup that somehow made it even better. My other kids ordered the Drift Dreams, Nutella smothered French toast and pancakes piled high with bananas, strawberries, and blueberries. It’s literally dessert for breakfast, and they loved every bite.
Past Favorites Still Hold Up On previous visits, the chorizo eggs Benedict and Oreo-covered waffles were unforgettable. Drift knows how to take comfort food and give it a gourmet twist without losing its soul.
Surprisingly Affordable Even with its prime location near Grande Dunes, Drift doesn’t overcharge. I’ve spent more at local buffets with half the flavor. You’re getting chef-level dishes at brunch prices, it's...
Read moreGreat place for breakfast/brunch/lunch, tucked away in a strip mall area, worth seeking out. This was my second time here and I will say it was consistent for each visit. Restaurant was full of patrons. The place isn’t huge and while there is outdoor dining both times few people were using it because of the weather. And the restaurant is loud. Both times I guess because of the number of people and the space itself voices carry. It’s hard to carry on a conversation with people at your own table kind of loud. A negative for me. (Some soft surfaces in the restaurant might help with the sound levels.) Servers also don’t wear masks. During my first visit I ordered the Signature Supreme Omelet. It was so good I got it again the second visit. Filled with sausage, ham, bacon bits, caramelized onions, a wild mushroom blend and cheddar cheese. Comes with your choice of side and choice of toast. Both times I ordered the potatoes and rye toast. I emphasize this because I rarely order the same thing during a return visit to a restaurant but, as I said, it was so good the first time, I wanted it again! The omelet is big and stuffed with ingredients. Very flavorful. The potatoes are sooooo good! They are small potatoes cut in half and almost seem like they have some kind of batter on them because they are nice and crispy on the outside but soft on the inside and not greasy or crunchy. Not sure how they make them, b it they are good! Full bar available which seems odd given the venue only serves breakfast and lunch. Decor is new looking but odd with at least 5 different types of lighting throughout the restaurant. (A pet...

Our first experience at Drifts was, unfortunately, underwhelming. Breakfast was mediocre at best. My other half ordered the salmon avocado toast but was served a salmon Benedict instead. While they did correct the mistake, the initial mix-up set the tone for the rest of the meal.
The breakfast trio I ordered looked no better than something from Waffle House—not what I expected from a place that presents itself as higher-end. The scrambled eggs were rubbery, as if they had been pre-made and left sitting. Nothing about either dish stood out. No freshness, no attention to detail—just food that felt like an afterthought.
To make matters worse, the dining room windows were covered in pollen. If that’s part of the dining space, it should be cleaned before opening. It was clear no one had bothered. But what truly baffled me was that the kitchen’s expo allowed such uninspired dishes to leave. At restaurants like Blueberry Grill or Scrambled, there’s a clear commitment to quality—something that was entirely missing here.
Even the Bloody Mary was disappointing. I didn’t bother speaking with a manager because, frankly, when a restaurant serves food with this little care, it’s usually a reflection of management itself. And based on what we were served, I doubt they’d care either.
As locals, we won’t be back. If you’re looking for a breakfast spot that delivers quality and a "wow" factor, stick to Blueberry Grill, Scrambled, or Johnny D’s. Drifts simply isn’t...
