I will begin by saying that Thai Bistro is an attractive place which is what drew us in. The decor is very nice, there WAS great dinner music playing when we first sat down, and the server was very welcoming. It was 2:30 in the afternoon. My husband and I shared an appetizer of steamed chicken dumplings which were delicate and quite delicious. He ordered pineapple curry with fried shrimp and I ordered my favorite standby Pad See Ew. My husband liked his very much. Mine was very tasty BUT, the noodles were terribly over cooked and fell apart with each bite. It was also a bit over salted, but I kept it and I decided it wasn't enough to turn it back. I figured I'd try something else next time. Happens. I still enjoyed it enough. What will keep us from returning was the service. While they started off so well, it went down hill very quickly. The server forgot our spring rolls altogether. Okay, that happens too. We had enough food. It would have been nice to try them. We were one of two couples in the entire restaurant. Not busy at all. The other couple left about halfway through our meal. The music stopped. We weren't offered anything more to drink, and in addition, the entire staff starts talking and joking around in the front of the restaurant VERY loudly. Then it got even louder and they were laughing and screaming at each other to where my husband and I couldn't hear each other speak, let alone enjoy a relaxing meal together in what I thought was going to be our new go to Thai spot. Finally, when I realized this wasn't going to stop, I called to one of the women and said, "Did you forget that we are here? Would you please consider that we are here? We can't even hear each other speak." She made a ridiculous excuse saying they had to tell each other something and then apologized under her breath. I then heard one of them scream go back to where you came from. What? Everyone was so kind at the start. What on earth happened? We were the only ones in the restaurant, but is a peaceful meal too much to ask for? It isn't inexpensive. A family came in to be seated and a man (the manager?) said they open again at four. Ahhhh. was that the problem? They wanted us out? Why not advise us when you sat us. We weren't there 45. min. Instead, they chose not offer us anything more to drink, to turn off the music and to start screaming to each other as if we weren't there. Not good. The waitress brought us our bill. She then picked up a couple of our side dishes but left ALL of our main dishes directly in front of us. NEVER cleared them away. Never offered anything else. Just awful. I was waiting to find out we were on candid camera at any moment. I'm sad to write this review, but you should know, and I hope they learn from this. We left them 10% anyway. They really didn't deserve it, but we've never not left a tip let alone only 10%. We enjoy meals out and we always tip well. No wonder the place was empty. The search for Thai continues,...
Read moreBig city feel with traditional taste.
This was my second time dining at Thai bistro. The first time was the first week they likened, and the food has improved. The Thai food here is reminiscent of my travel to Thailand in 2019. Tom Kha Gai soup and pad Thai(shrimp pad training photo with an extra egg on top) bursting with flavor. Get the medium spice. It is not raw heat but an abundance of flavored heat. Another thing that changed since opening is they took the dark tint off the front windows. A welcome move, as when you drive by it, it does not seem centered in a small(ish) city, but a restaurant in the best districts of a larger city. Chandeliers hang, faux brick walls, and ambient lighting create a mood of modernism with class. If the more traditional Thai staff is on hand, ask for a Thai tea. Normally a cup full of sugar, when prepared in this way, it is a well balanced creamy treat of a drink that you will most likely drink way too quickly.
Potential room for improvement could be the journey to the restroom that is piled with boxes and dry goods along the corridor as storage must be sparse.
But, change your mindset and fear not. The random boxes transport you to even more of a spot in a local neighborhood with great cuisine where the food is on display, not the back half of...
Read moreMy wife and I discovered Thai Bistro last night, February 7, 2024. We also discovered that this restaurant is a sister Thai restaurant in the northern section of Myrtle Beach, named Thai Taste. We had eaten at Thai Taste a few years ago, and loved the food, atmosphere and service. Thai Bistro was closer to our hotel so we decided to check it out. The restaurant is in a strip mall and it was the only busy place there. There was only one empty table and we were seated immediately. The restaurant was hopping!! The cooks and servers were busy, and the crowd was having a big time, chatting with their friends and family, enjoying a delicious meal. We had a feeling that the food would be a hit and we could not have been more correct! I had an appetizer of hamachi sashimi, which was buttery smooth. My entree was panang curry with chicken and my wife had ginger stir fry with mixed vegetables and shrimp. The portions were generous and the food was fabulous! We ate both of our dishes completely, and it was delicious. Thai Bistro has to be in the top 5 Thai restaurants ever for us. We will go back because we love Thai food and this is some of the best we've ever had. I'm really looking forward to...
