Walk into the room at 5:00 pm, smells like overbearing baby powder. I am used to staying at Marriotts and I thought I would wait until the smell dissipates, maybe just the cleaning products. Went by the pool, came back to shower, no conditioner for the hair, no hot water. Went to bed and my husband woke up to terrible sneezing, which usually happens when there is mould. I went to the front desk and the gentleman there said that a housekeeper is on her way to the room right now to check for mould. I was still at reception and my husband had no idea someone was coming. Husband told her now is not a good time and housekeeper left. When we were finally packed up, I waited 30 mins for the housekeeper to come back to the room, which never happened. Then I spoke to the manager Anna, very dismissive lady, who says that it’s impossible they have mould because they “look” to see if there is any. How about a mould test kit since it’s impossible to see mould at times unless it’s intense. How about cleaning the rooms properly so that guests like us who are allergic to it won’t have to wake up to a sneezing spell, eyes itching. How about not trying to conceal the smell with whatever product they were using? Mould is dangerous and not to be expected from a Marriott. She then proceeded to tell me their products are pet friendly and do not smell, which I still don’t understand how that’s related to the mould issue. I was very disappointed to see how dismissive the staff was, unprofessional, unempathetic. I was told I should have asked to switch rooms yesterday so I guess they are used to people who complain right away. Had I smelled the mould beyond the baby powder last night I would have voiced my concern and not waited until morning. Also this morning many breakfast items ran out, carpets are smelly even in the hallways. This is the worst Marriott I have stayed in by far, it should be rebranded as to not deceive customers. I had to pay the full price for my mouldy stay of $220/night, and I was kindly instructed to “take it up with the credit card company” if I didn’t agree with the full charge. Worst service, Anna in management needs to pay better attention to the mould in her rooms as well as how staff...
Read moreStayed here recently for a family gathering. Location wise I understand why people like this place as it is at Broadway at the Beach. There is nothing amazing about this hotel and as far as Marriott hotels go, this seems to be the norm with ones that I've seen lately.....tired and in need of an update. The room had a weird smell to it...maybe it was musty....not sure and my daughter's room actually had a separate dehumidifyer in it. None of the wall thermostats worked and the giant wall ACs were unpredictable with temperature. We found weird bugs on the wall in our room....not sure if they just made their way into our room on us or not. But the beds were clean....so nothing to complain about there. The shower, while updated, sucked as the water pressue was not great. They have these like 1990 waterpic type heads on the showers so in order to get decent water pressue you have to play around with that during your shower. Also, the bath tubs have no tread to them and there are no bars within the shower to hold on to so it's actually quite dangerous and is a lawsuit waiting to happen if the wrong person slips within the shower ( I personally know of one person who did slip in the shower on this particular trip and it was a mess).|Breakfast was ok.....typical scrambled eggs, cheese omlet wrap thing, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy, etc. It's kinda hard to screw up breakfast! The only thing they didn't have was any type of fruit at breakfast which I thought was weird.|The all-day coffee is nice and something that as a traveller I do look forward to.|At night things got a little sketchy as lots of drunk people were tolling the outside (probably coming from the bars at Broadway) and some made it into the lobby....so that wasn't great but it is what it is I guess. Like I said, I understand why people book this place with it being so close to everything at Broadway, but if I didn't have to be here for a family function I would probably not have chosen to...
Read moreFirst I’d like to say that I have only ever left one negative review in my life and that was for a negligent doctors office whose oversight almost killed my husband. But, I am just really disappointed in how this situation was handled and want to make it known that if you have a billing issue, you will NOT get help. I made a mistake on a reservation for a stay the first week of March and had the date wrong. I called when I realized it (a couple weeks before my stay). I made the reservation for Wed-Fri instead of Tuesday-Thursday and I was there for a trade show. Honest mistake. I had reserved under the advanced deposit rate to save my company some money. The person at the front desk said they had me “all set”when I called to change it and that was that. When I got my bill the morning of checkout, I realized they charged me $140 more for my stay than the rate i had booked. This is where my main issue arises. The front desk said the GM, Anna, would be able to help me and gave me her card. I called and emailed numerous times with no response. I have stayed here well over a hundred times for work and to not even get a call or email back until I reached out to corporate is unacceptable. I finally (a month later) reached out to corporate and was told that the hotel will not be able to refund. Again, no response from the GM. The sad part is, if there was truly nothing she could do to refund me, and she would have just picked up the phone when I called and told me that, I wouldn’t be writing this right now. I will not be staying here for my business travel again.
I will mention the room had a horrible mildew odor at check in that lasted my entire two night stay, I didn’t complain because again, I try to be easy going. But since I’m writing this… it’s important to note if you are sensitive to mildew/mold you may want to...
