I went to this Eggs Up location for breakfast. They were really busy. Usually the food comes out quickly even when they are busy. When I ordered, the server was kind enough to tell me that it would take about 15 minutes for my breakfast. I appreciated the heads up. Most places wouldn't tell you that. I ordered the"Classic". The menu shows that it comes with 2 eggs, bacon or sausage or ham and toast or fruit or grits. I ordered scrambled eggs, white toast, and fruit. The server let me know they were out of white bread so I asked if I could get an English muffin instead. She said yes. My bill came and I was charged an upcharge of $1.99 for the fruit ( which the menu clearly shows as an option and does not show as an up charge) and I was charged an extra$.59 for the English muffin. The menu didn't show an english muffin as an option or an up charge but there should be some indication on the menu if they're going to charge you for it. Especially since they were out of white bread. I shouldn't have been charged.I questioned the server about the charge. She was fairly new so she checked with the manager to find out why I was charged extra. The manager let her know that the charges were correct. I was not happy so the manager took off the up charge for fruit. There are several Eggs Up locations. My husband and I often go to 2 other locations and have never been charged extra for the fruit. I always get white toast so I don't know if other locations would charge extra for an English muffin instead of toast. I am starting to do more shopping near this Eggs Up and would love to come to this location more often but I don't like being taken advantage of so I will not be back. Update: I wrote the review while I was sitting in the restaurant. After I finished the review I got up to leave. The manager was standing away from me and she mouthed the works "thank you"( not sure why) but I told I would not be back. She asked why. At first she said that she wasn't aware that there was a problem ( even though she credited me for the fruit after the server spoke with her twice about the issue). She then said that there was a problem with their system and it added the fruit in as a separate item. Then she offered to refund me the $.59 for the English Muffin. I declined the refund. She then told me that the next time I come in that I should ask for her. I again let her know that I won't be back. She may think that she tried to make it right but what she really did was lie to me y claiming at first that she wasn't aware of the problem. So heads up to anyone reading this. If you go to this Eggs Up, make sure to review your bill before you pay and don't pay for any...
Read moreI love the food here and have always raved about this place to friends and family. Our experience this time around took a bad turn. We normally have great service. Ashley has been awesome, but this time we had Kim from Long Island. At least that is what it said on her name tag. Tall, thin lady with glasses. She didn't pay much attention to us, but I just assumed it was because she was busy. There was a couple who sat at a table next to us from Calabash which is close by. Kim kept going over to talk to them and refilling their coffee while I was still waiting on mine to be refilled even once. Our tables were practically on top of each other so she could've just refilled us all. I didn't think anything of it again. I just thought well she is all into her conversation she probably forgot I had coffee too. Well then she kept talking and said to the couple... Oh I love locals, you guys should come here more often and you will get treated like "you deserve". "We do extra for our regulars". She then complained about how they should come in the off season because the place is loaded with tourists. Which they said it was a good thing that they were busy and Kim said yea and rolled her eyes. Meanwhile, still waiting on my coffee with my non-local, tourist self. My husband overheard more of the conversation because of his positioning towards her and she made it seem like tourists are a hassle and she didn't care to serve them "like locals deserve" bc we wont be here. Well guess what? We live only 2 hrs away and frequently come to eggs up whenever we are vacationing. It is my son's favorite place because he loves breakfast food. I won't let her experience ruin my entire experience at eggs up, but she is completely rude and if it weren't for tourist she wouldn't have all the tables she did. Tourists help the economy in MB big time. This was a huge slap in the face as to why she wasnt treating us well compared to them. The lady at the table she was speaking too mouthed, "I CANT BELIEVE SHE JUST SAID THAT" to her husband about Kim. My husband was upset so he kept saying to me it's fine it is because we are non local. The husband then looked to his wife and said, "they heard her". We Sure did. How could we not? She was very boldface about it. Love the food at Eggs up, but Kim needs to be retrained...
Read moreHad breakfast here this morning, it's apparently a very popular local joint, judging on how full the place was and how many people were waiting outside on a Wednesday morning. We had to wait about 20 minutes for a table, but there are benches (covered) outside and the weather was pleasant, so no biggie.
Once we were sat, I ordered some coffee - good, not burnt or old tasting - and they did have honey available for a sweetener on request. My husband ended up ordering the classic breakfast with onions in his home fries, and I opted for the Founder's Benedict. It was a little pokey getting out to us, they brought him his dish about 20 minutes or so after we ordered, which is longer than I usually expect for a fairly simple breakfast.
My benedict came out with ham underneath, when it was supposed to be hash, and the waitress noticed that she was putting it down on the table. No problems, stuff happens, especially on a busy morning. She whisked it away with a promise to get it fixed. I'm guessing that they had to make it over from scratch because it was about 10 minutes later, and my husband had mostly finished his breakfast, by the time it came out. Snafus aside, it was probably the best benedict I've had since we started our stay in Myrtle Beach, and I was very pleased. For once, we found a place that actually seasons their home fries with something other than salt, they were absolutely delicious and the benedict was fantastic - delicious hollandaise and the eggs were poached perfectly.
Without any complaining or prompting, they took half the price of my meal off because I had to wait for it, I appreciate that dedication to customer service. Our waitress, Ashley I believe her name was, was also very nice and attentive.
I recommend Eggs Up Grill if you're looking for a good breakfast for a very reasonable price, but I would add the caveat that if you are facing down a tight deadline for getting to some attraction, you might want to rethink or...
