Went to this place for dinner and told that they had no room because they had reservations; but we saw two empty tables. So I called them when I got to my car and asked the same person who told us that they had no room if they had any open tables, she now said yes. REALLY! I then called and asked to speak to the manager who returned my call, and she stated that. a table had just left. I was in the parking lot and I didnt see anyone leaving. But here's the real issue, I leave a message for a return call and the manager doesnt use my last name when she addresses me as a concerned customer, she refers to me by my first name and she doesnt know me. Then instead of her telling me that if I am willing to give their place another chance I should ask for her personally so she can make sure there are no further issues, she just makes excuses stating her hostess was new. This even after I told her that both people at the hostess station told me that there was no room. Although we didnt have a good vibe when we entered and we sawa server just sitting in the empty booth up front as if they had no work to do, we still went through the motions. So to sum it up, based on the laziness of staff, the non caring attitude, and the laxed way the manager addressed me when she returned my call, this is not a place I would go back to. And if I spend a good $100 when eating out, that means they lost over $2,400 a year on myself alone in revenue. I have to wonder how many other people this has happened too, and how many other people are not customers due to the inability of their manager and staff to do the little thi g the right way.As someone who has been in the food and beverage I dustry for four decades , you always make the guest feel as if they have a special connection with the establishment and not to turn them away and take no additional steps to bring them back after maki g a mistake. A simple statement of letting their manager know when we came back so she could make sure that everything was ok through our dining experience would have...
Read moreThe Salt and Pepper Pub on North Market Street in Nanticoke is an establishment that serves very good bar food, from sandwiches to burgers to wings...and a lot more.
We arrived for our 6:30 p.m. reservation and sat out on the patio. There was only one other table occupied the entire visit. This really wasn't a good idea, however, since the outdoor dining area is next to a busy street, and the sound of the traffic at times drowned out the conversation. We probably could've sat indoors, since the restaurant was practically empty, but the weather was too pleasant to pass up.
For an appetizer, I ordered a plate of 5 deep-fried braised beef short rib pierogi's. I would recommend the steamed version, as the dough was very hard. However, that was my mistake, and not the restaurant's. Should I visit again, I'll definitely choose the latter. Nevertheless, the beef was tender and delicious, and completely filled the pierogi.
We also ordered the chicken parmesan sandwich, which was extremely tasty. The chicken was tender, the marinara sauce mild, and plenty of cheese with every bite.
Along with our sandwiches, we ordered the white cheddar mac and cheese. I recommend eating half of your meal before digging in because the savory cheese sauce needs time to thicken for a more satisfying experience. The elbow macaroni was served al dente adding to an already perfect side.
Also ordered were the truffle fries, which was delightful. The fries were crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside, and packed a lot of flavor.
We had a fudge brownie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Overall, the dessert was average but it hit the spot after our entrees. The brownie was served warm, and the slightly melted ice cream added to a refreshing dish.
All told, the Salt and Pepper Pub deserves a visit, but I wouldn't travel far to dine there. The food was very enjoyable, and would make an excellent casual night out...if you're...
Read moreThe food was delicious. There was a lobster that escaped our group somehow but the other patron was happy with a switch to scallops. The drink I had was a pineapple, basil, and coconut mojito which was absolutely delicious. We all ate appetizers, salads, and most finished their meal if that's telling you something. I thought the prices were a mix, some higher than I would expect for the dish, others lower, so it probably balances out. Didn't see a lot of seafood in my boyfriends fra diablo but he said there was a bunch in it, so I'll take his word for it. I didn't really care for the gnocchi, but that was the only food I didn't really enjoy. I don't think I often have enjoyed gnocchi so it may be me. The blood orange martini tastes great, is incredibly strong, if that's your thing. They carry an assortment of SBC beer, I guess that's pretty popular, but I'm not familiar. And the group loved their blueberry and orange beer. Nice atmosphere, we were in the private room towards the back. The server and helpers were pleasant and attentive. They checked on us regularly, cleaned up the dishes quickly too, which is nice when you're socializing with a group for obvious reasons. Would dine there again, however, it would be nice to see a few more additions to the menu, some really original unique to their restaurant, chef inspired dishes because...
