An update from my recent visit- Kura have a 50% off promo for all their ramen and soup till mid-March, and I was craving for some ramen, so I decided to grab this opportunity and go there after lunch hours. 1st thing I noticed as I walked into my table was this very strong smell of bleach. It was very off-putting, I tried to ignore it at first, but eventually, I think I could taste it. I ordered a tonkotsu ramen, and the serving is way too small for more than 10 dollars. No wonder it is 50% off . The pork slices taste like some store bought Thanksgiving ham, it wasnt that bad, but it's not good either. Overall, it's not worth my trip. I also grabbed some sushi and tried their new stuff like seared scallop and boy it taste disgusting. The garlic skipjack tuna is not good either . I noticed a lot of their sushi is super small and doesn't look fresh. I don't know, but the quality or the quantity of what they offer seems going downhill fast. 5 stars, though, for my waiter, such a nice guy!
I've been anticipating the opening of this location since summer. Place is located in front of H-Mart and Costco by Ogden Ave. Dined in on a Friday night, and it was a little busy around 20 mins wait time. Staff are friendly. The restaurant is clean and bright, and the sushi conveyer belt looks clean. They have 2 server robots that bring drinks to the table, so its a nice entertainment for kids and adults. Decor is very simple. Now for the food, it's a hit or miss for about $3 to 4.50 per small portion of plate it's a bit expensive. Someone can get easily carried away by just grabbing everything, and these tiny plates add up in the end. I think I tried all of their selections in the conveyer plus side orders of fried octopus and miso soup. For 2 people, we cleaned up 31 plates. 31 plates sounds a lot, but it's not the case as some sushi and rolls are cut in such a tiny / thin portion maybe a little bigger than my thumb or a little bigger than a size of a quarter with a laughable barely there cream cheese on top of some of the sushi. Overall, it was a fun experience, but there were moments in time where 3 mins or so had passed where there's barely any food on the belt as it was already gone before it reached our table. By the way, every 15 plates, you cleaned up a plastic ball with a toy inside drops by your table...
Read moreHere, so as soon we seated I know we r in trouble lol. While this is new here, i Jsut realize from the set up that we been to this restaurant before the one in CA which wasn't good at all lol
We dined there because we were out of town didn't know what was good but saw a line of ppl waiting for it to open lol. Can't say it's good but can't say it bad...I had worse lol
So here we are in this new naperville location with open mind...If u like the belt experience, sure, But there also sushi plus at fox valley
There obviously better sushi, not sure we will be back. I mean $3.4 a plate for two sushi is excellent! but very very small thin of fish lol This is Like a very affordable kinda of sushi! But if u r Asian u know what I mean just stick to the sushi restaurant in Schaumburg area lol
Oh the rice, all the rice are NOT stick as soon as you use chopstick to grab the sushi half of the rice fall off stay on plate lol
It's kind of sad so many Asian In naperville, no good sushi place no good ramen place no good Korean BBQ place...Need to go up north every weeknd lol
Over all I can't say it's bad or good, u really pay for what you get. Two kids and two adult we still ordered $120+ and the sushi wasn't great lol
Ps. How do you guys even tip here?!?!?! The host seat us, we went to grab food from the belt we also ordered alot of food on the screen and it came in the upper belt. We paid at the screen. The waiter wasn't even here lol. The bill came with a choice of 18% 20% or 25%. How the heck you tip anything not alone 25% when the wait staffs never showed up lol the tipping culture gotten crazy...
Read moreThis is about the Naperville location, not the Schaumberg location. The food is really good and the experience is nice once you actually get in the door. All of the plates are the same price whether they're vegetarian or generally more expensive seafood. I think that it's more convenient and will even out if you're going with a family, but not if you're a vegetarian. The two stars were for the food being good and the ability to order on an ipad and have food delivered via conveyor belt was a good experience. My reason for the low score is the service and experience. Upon arrival, you sign in on an ipad outside in the cold. You're not allowed to wait inside, so you have to stand outside or sit in your car and waste gas until you receive a text that they're ready. Hopefully, they will change this system to let people join the waitlist while they're on their way, otherwise it's not worth it. My family and I wanted waters and when we asked the waiter they told us to order it on the ipad and wait for the robot to bring it. In theory, this is a cute idea to have a rolling robot deliver you your drinks. In practice, we ordered twice and then had to ask a waiter again and emphasize the fact that we had been waiting over 15 minutes for the dang robot because another server wouldn't bring us water. This was rude and unrealistic. I understand that the place is busy, but until they get rid of the robots and make a seating area inside, I'd reccomend the Kura location in Schaumberg or Rotary Sushi in Aroura which has a nice comfy waiting area, attentive staff, and still lets you order off an ipad...
