As a frequent customer to the surrounding establishments, I thought it was worth trying BB.Q Chicken as I enjoyed the previous Korean chicken restaurant that had been in the same location. Firstly the price, I got the medium boneless chicken and it cost a total of $17. If the chicken was truly as good as they depict it to be I wouldn't have as big of an issue but the chicken itself were little measly pieces and weren't anything special and while the breading did have flavor (I ordered without sauce) it just wasn't that good. No comparison to what the previous restaurant had. When ordering the chicken you have multiple choices of sauce to toss the chicken into for no added cost (correct me if I am wrong) and so I would think asking for a side of sauce to go along with the chicken which wasn't tossed into anything to begin with would be no big deal, right? Wrong, the attendant tells me it will be $1.50. For plain $17 chicken you cannot spare a measly cup of sauce? I am not ordering my whole order of chicken to be tossed into their "special sauce" without knowing what it tastes like first for $17 per order, and god forbid me or anyone else getting the large at $28 and realizing they don't like it. Neither the medium or large order of chicken come with any beverage at all as well, which is absurd as the neighboring restaurant Korean Snack House gives a can soda with every CupBop order for $7 less which itself is a more filling meal than the $17 chicken. Lastly, unlike the other neighboring restaurants with the pagers given to customers to notify them when orders are ready, this store decided not to invest in it and does it the old fashioned way. I sat and waited for 10 minutes and the attendant yelled out the order for someone else multiple times in the span of three minutes and it could be heard multiple tables away. Sitting there like a buffoon, I waited for my order to be called out no to avail and having been eyeing an order they placed on the counter some time ago, I finally got up and found out it was my order. He didn't even bother to call it out! Luckily I won't have to worry about this again as i'm never going back. My final opinion is this restaurant spent everything on cosmetics and stock footage for their televisions so they overcharge for a mediocre signature dish. I will continue to spend my $17 for four chicken sandwiches...
Read moreThis korean chicken place was heavily featured in a K-drama Crash landing on you. After seeing the show it made me wanna try this place. So, here's my thoughts about this place. This place is located inside H-Mart. The chicken is good and I actually like it but the reason for 3 stars is that 1. It's really expensive compared to a regular fried chicken place 2. The serving portion is small (its boneless so think of chicken strips) 3. The wait time is just way too long. I went to this place on a Wednesday at 2 pm and there's 1 person ahead of me and she's telling me that she's been waiting for her orders for more than 30 mins already. I don't know if this place take orders for pickup. I ordered an 8 piece garlic honey chicken and it was served around 36 mins to be exact as I timed it after placing my order just to be sure. While waiting for my chicken to cook I browse around to the next food stalls and decided to order another lunch meal to the Chinese restaurant which was served under 10 mins. I was almost done with my lunch and was getting full already and finally the guy from BB-Q called my name. Finally tried the famous chicken it was crispy with good flavor to it. I can taste the honey but not much of the garlic. And now for the $15 question is this chicken worth the wait- well it depends if you're really hungry and have a close mindset that you only want to have this chicken for a meal then I say no. The wait time till just ruin you to oblivion. But as for a treat yea sure. You can kill time by buying groceries inside H-Mart I'm sure by the time you're done your chicken is...
Read moreOriginal review: I have been coming here since they opened, the whole chicken then was worth the $27 but lately the amount of food you get is constantly less and less. I usually order the whole chicken and there has been a noticeable steady decrease in the amount of chicken in each of the orders. This is the last time today!! I ordered the large order of tenders with two sauces and when I got home and opened the box there was a HANDFUL of fried chicken bits in the whole order. For $27!! This is not worth that price, how dare you scam someone like this!! Two stars because their flavors are good but I will not be back here. I'll drive a few extra minutes to go to another Korean fried chicken place down the street that doesn't rip it's customers off. SHAME ON YOU!!! UPDATE: 9/29/24 they have absolutely been doing much better and are giving the original portion sizes. I have been a few times and it's been...
