I had a very disappointing experience. A teenage girl in front of me, who had braces, politely asked if her apples could be cut in half since she couldn’t bite into them whole. The staff member refused and responded with sarcasm, saying she’d have to walk through a “crowded kitchen” (it wasn’t) to do it.
The girl seemed embarrassed and changed her order. I stepped in and told her she wasn’t being unreasonable and should get the apples. She kindly repeated her request, and the staff member snapped: “Oh sure I’ll just make everyone behind you wait so I can cut your apple, because no one has anything better to do.”
I said, “Miss, we don’t mind, it’s your job,” and she cursed under her breath and walked off. The girl was visibly upset and even apologized to me, though she did absolutely nothing wrong. I told her that again.
I live across the street in Charleston Square Village and have been coming here every week or two for some time. The woman behind the counter has always had a cold, unfriendly attitude toward people, but shaming a customer really crossed a line. I guess they can get away with this sort of treatment because it’s in a high-demand neighborhood. A real shame.
I regret going ahead with my own order, I won’t come back...
Read moreTerrible new ownership and food, I wish the previous owners would take this establishment back over. Had to wait forever to get our simple orders even though there was no line. It is high-priced food options for very low-cost choices. Nothing states anything about a charge for refills, so like every other establishment, that means it is free refills. Very smart $$@ employees (or owners) that do not care about decent customer service - if you are not enjoying your jobs, then work somewhere else so it does not become the customers burden. Instead, they want to have altercations and perform immature stare downs to customer's. Their menu states vegetarian options for others. However, they do not have anything when the cook was questioned but miraculously later with a different person they have plenty. If you want to spend your hard earned money on overpriced terribly easy food and bad customer service, go for it. Otherwise, I would pack a lunch and enjoy the beach atmosphere. We, our family and friends, will never give them our business again until new...
Read moreFlip Flops Beach Grill is the concession stand in Lowdermilk Park. It is located right next to the beach and the restrooms are behind it.
Flip Flops Beach Grill is perfect when you need refreshment during your visit to the beach. No need to dress up, feel free to come on over in your swim suit. They serve breakfast sandwiches with eggs, lunch sandwiches, kids meals, and snacks. They have your usual soft drink options but they also serve beer, wine, and frozen cocktails elevating your relaxing day. I enjoyed a coffee as the sun set and air turned colder on an crisp early December evening. They also sell t-shirts, beach chairs, floaties, and water toys. Prices are a bit higher than your would typically pay outside the park but you get convenience. As an added bonus they post low and hide tide times and the sunset.
Flip Flops Beach Grill is open every day from 9 AM to 6 PM. There is plenty of seating for eating and drinking on the tables under their covered patio deck. There are also picnic tables...
