El Cielito Lindo — Restaurant in Nappanee

The waitress was nice and I don’t have any complaints with her. However the food, I was very disappointed. I don’t write negative reviews without thinking through first but I rely on reviews to make decisions sometimes so here’s my opinion. We love authentic Mexican food and wanted to try somewhere new. I got the Texas sizzling fajita. It was not even remotely sizzling and had literally NO flavor at all! Not even a hint of salt! It was the most bland steak and chicken ever! The only I tasted was oil and bland meat. The shrimp wasn’t edible because it wasn’t even cooked all the way. Menu said the steak, chicken and shrimp was severed with peppers and onions & there wasn’t one single pepper and the onions were weirdly all different sizes and some over cooked drenched in oil and others big chunks not cooked all the way. I love guacamole and it literally just tasted like puréed avocados! No salt, chunks or any flavoe to speak of. My son doesn’t like Mexican food so he got an American dish and his cheeseburger wasn’t even edible his fries were good. My husband meal wasn’t good either! When I placed my order I specifically said I cannot have onions and tomatoes. My order comes with tomatoes and onions, I send it back. My order comes again with onions on it. I send it back again and saying I said no tomatoes or onions. Later on when I was waiting on my order I heard my waiter talking to other workers saying that I did not say I do not want to tomatoes and onions. I asked everyone at the table if I had asked for those to be not with my meal and they all said yes I did say no tomatoes or onions. I finally got my meal without the tomatoes and onions. Then for my salad I had asked for a dressing and it wasn't the dressing I asked for, and by that time I thought I'm not sending my dressing back as I was afraid they were going to put something else in the dressing cup that would be gross. While I was placing my order to the waiter I could tell they weren't really listening and when he repeated back to me I could hardly understand what he was saying. They served me the VERY worst nachos I've ever had.

I was in Nappanee getting work done on my motorhome. It was my birthday and so I thought I'd treat myself to a genuine Mexican meal. I ordered their Nachos Supreme as an appetizer.

The bottom of the platter was cover in 1/4" of a watery liquid. I couldn't find any cheese. The beef was ground beef that had been browned on the stove but still in larger chunks and didn't have a lot of taste. The chicken was pulled apart into medium sized pieces and wasn't bad. The chips had soaked up so much fluid from the bottom of the platter that I had to use dry chips (to scoop stuff up) from the basket that was brought to the table when I sat down. No refried beans. No sour cream. I hate to say it but Taco Bell's Nacho Supreme are far superior these "authentic" nachos. Another couple having their motorhome worked on went there too on another night. They said that both of their meals were horrible. Yet, a third couple had a wonderful meal there. I only visit Nappanee once a year and I will go to other restaurants for a nice meal, not this alleged...
