Tonight was a great time!! Went to dinner with the wife unit and had an amazing meal at an unexpected place...unexpected in that we didn't expect to find a brew pub in the middle of Indiana...Ruhe 152 is a great stop if you are ever in the area of Nappanee, Indiana!!
Wife and I started off with the Burnt Brussels, and the honey garlic wings...yea they were as good as they sound...both dishes! The Brussels had a really good sauce combo on them, an Asian vinaigrette and an orange colored one we forgot to ask about...hahaha...wings were excellent! Crispy and full of flavor, with a slight spice to them!
For our main dish, I had a Bhan Mi sammich with an Asian slaw side...super fresh pickled veggies, and they used actual kewpie mayo! Pork was slightly smoky and full of deliciousness!! Wife had the Pig and Fig flat bread pizza...bacon, figs, cheese balsamic drizzle...whats not to love!!??!!
And finally for drinks...wife unit had the Elderflower margarita...amazing!! I had a 4 beer flight...1st one was a NEIPA and it was really good, called it the Silk Blessings...2nd was a traditional style Bock beer called Reception, not bad but not my favorite...3rd was a Belgian quad called the Brooklyn Supreme, very good and smooth drinking! My favorite though was one style of beer I don't have a lot of experience with, a Marzen they called Wolfhouse, absolutely delicious! Had an odd flavor of jalapeños, not the spicy part but the grassy flavor of a raw jalapeño...so good!
We both said we would go out of our way to go back for more! Our waiter, Matthew J, was awesome! Really seemed to enjoy his job and the food he served! Very knowledgeable about everything on the menu!
Definitely recommend!!
Forgot to mention...in the area we sat in...there was a dedication to a troop who paid the ultimate sacrifice...a Green Beret to boot...
This review is dedicated in his honor...
Rest easy SSG Travis "El...
Read moreMy review will be broken down into three categories: Food, Service, and atmosphere.
Food I had in the following order: spinach artichoke dip, Bang bang sushi, crab hush puppies and strawberry cheesecake.
Spinach artichoke dip: 5/5 I would come back just for this dish alone. Definitely a must try.
Bang bang sushi: 3/5 I have never seen such small proportions for sushi in any sushi restaurant I have been to. Sadly the scallions overpowered the shrimp and the spicy sauce didn't add much flavor.
Crab hush puppies: 2/5 If I was to make a recommendation to alter the recipe, I would say add more salt to make the flavors pop more. The hush puppies by themselves were very empty of flavor. I could barely taste the crab. The dill mustard that came with it was the only thing that made this dish interesting.
Strawberry cheesecake: 4/5 I don't take a star off for flavor, but rather portion size. My wife and I both ordered cheesecake of different varieties, but my slice came out 2/3 the size of her slice. A very noticeable difference in size.
Service: 6/5 The host was amazing and our waitress was great as well. In fact, the extra star on top was when the hostess came out of the restaurant to ask my wife and I wanted her to take a picture in front of an art installation. Props to the restaurant for hiring such an amazing hostess.
Atmosphere: 4/5 Almost everywhere I go, I dress casual. I felt out of place here, but not uncomfortably so. This place gives off an upscale vibe. The aesthetic is modern minimalist with art deco mixed in. The color scheme was a little dark for my taste, but had some nice accent lights...
Read moreWe had come here last year before the remodel/rebrand. We were very pleased back then, and wanted to come back over after they had reopened. Staff was extra friendly, great atmosphere. A gentleman greeted us outside and walked in with us to meet the hostess. We were seated promptly, and our waitress, Emily, was nice. We ordered the Arincini appetizer which was phenomenal. My husband got a beer - their beverages are always good, I know they make a lot of their own alcohol. As entrees, I got the fettuccine alfredo with steak, and my husband ordered steak with green beans and potatoes. My steak had no pink in it, though it was said to be medium rare. I couldn't stomach the alfredo past a couple bites. It had either far too much salt in it, or far too much parmesan - I'm not positive, but it was extremely overpowering. Maybe I'm too used to Olive Garden and just don't know what I'm talking about. 😂 My husband got steak with green beans and potatoes. The steak and green beans were...steak and green beans. Some of his potato pieces were not fully cooked. Overall, though, everyone was very friendly, and I'm sure that if I had been brave enough to speak up about our meals, it would have been resolved. 😅 Bear in mind that they are still in the process of reopening, so reservations are highly encouraged and they're not quite operating at full capacity yet. I think the kinks are still...
