This is now our second time dining at Hunters Hideaway. First time my husband and I were in the bar seating areas that is very nice and cool atmosphere loved it. Second time there we sat in the family area with our family and kids personally not as cool atmosphere as the front area that was disappointing. Service was good but they seemed pretty busy but our waitress was still on it and great with the kids. We got several appetizers pretzel’s were amazing but four for the price and have several kids you have to order several unless you have a family of four and the price. Their breaded mushrooms are really good they aren’t that frozen bar breading definitely a nice pick with a light crisp hand breaded mushrooms you get a good amount for the price only thing I wished was they had some sort of maybe a house special sauce with the mushrooms verses just ranch when they have really good breaded mushrooms. I got the appetizer spicy shrimp as my main meal and you get a ton of shrimp they had a okay flavor maybe a little more spicy I would have liked them more. My husband got a burger that had spinach dip on it and he is not someone that would normally ever get anything like that on his burger ever and he said it was really good and he would get it again. One of my sons got the chicken quesadillas he really liked and it had good flavor, one of my sons got plain wings he said were good and my other son got boneless wings with the honey mustard sauce that he said was so so. Overall not a bad experience and we would go...
Read moreHunters Hideaway in Nappanee is a true hidden gem and a place I’m glad we discovered. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, with a pleasant small-town charm that immediately makes you feel comfortable. The service was friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better.
The food was the real highlight of my visit. We ordered the breaded tenderloin, and it was outstanding. The outside had a perfect crunch, while the inside was thick, moist, and seasoned wonderfully. It was clear that this tenderloin was made with care and skill—it’s easily one of the best I’ve had. I also tried the poutine, which was rich, savory, and absolutely delicious. The flavors came together beautifully, and it felt like a dish you’d come back for again and again. To round it out, the chicken gizzards were surprisingly excellent—crispy, flavorful, and prepared just right.
Between the great food, the welcoming atmosphere, and the attentive service, Hunter’s Hideaway stands out as a fantastic place to eat in Nappanee. I left full, satisfied, and already planning my next visit. This is the kind of restaurant you’ll want to recommend to...
Read moreWe had been here before a few years ago and loved the chicken gizzards. They are still good but we tried the smash burger and ribeye tonight. The ribeye was thin but done appropriately and flavorful. The smash burger was not a smash burger - it was a regular burger not caramelized and crispy the way a smash burger should be. The meat was brown/gray - this is not a smash burger. Additionally I asked for more blue cheese dressing for the salad that comes with. I got sour cream. You know what I mean - it takes a bite to realize I have smothered my salad with sour cream. The waitress was too busy talking to what looked like the manager and another server to really care about what we needed and it took a while to get her attention so that I could ask for a real blue cheese dressing serving. She then responded - sorry I’ll have them get you some. I hate to ask again for another beer - they go fast sometimes- and again it takes a while for her to stop talking to her compatriots to get a beer. I did not complain about this, the sour cream, or the supposed smash burger. We tipped 20% and said thank you very much. But I will not...
