These bagels I had today were pretty pathetic. The grocery story bakery bagels I get at Shaw's taste better and had more chew and taste to them. The outside crust just crumbles and the inside just tastes like bread. Everything bagel is just burnt garlic and onion with no salt. I can't stand when everything bagels have no salt. Cheese bagel has basically no cheese, didn't taste like cheese, it's sad. There wasn't enough cream cheese on them. They don't have garlic/scallion cream cheese like most other places. They didn't have orange juice when I went, just some orange apple juice blend crap that I'd use as a mixer, and it's not even a full 12fl oz. I hate leaving bad reviews but this was extremely disappointing. Not worth the 2 dollars in fees I paid at the ATM since it's cash only. I hate payment processing companies and their fees but I hate needing to pay to use an ATM more especially when there is no cash only sign on the door. We threw them away after...
Read moreI've been a delighted customer of Bagel Alley for decades now. They have the best bagels in the area, rivaling the best from New York, friendly staff and a variety of choices for breakfast and lunch. The sandwiches are stuffed and the pizza bagels are a favorite of mine. In October and November they have pumpkin bagels - I initially scoffed at these (I don't care for most pumpkin-flavored foods), but the bagels are a hit with me and I stock up when they are around.
If you buy a "dozen" bagels, you actually get a "baker's dozen" or 13. Ask for a "club card" - after you buy 12 dozens, the next one is free. The atmosphere is casual and amusing, with bagel-oriented punny decorations on the walls. Do note that Bagel Alley does not accept credit cards, but they recently installed an ATM in-store in case you don't have enough cash. (The owners declined to take a cut of the fees, lowering the cost...
Read moreI see all the reviews about friendly staff - but I wonder how they can be talking about the same place. I went in this AM (this time with cash), expecting to get some Bagels for my girl's office. Greeted with nothing but scowls. Which reminded me of my last experience there - which was equally unfriendly.
That time? I tried to pay with a card and was dressed down for my trouble (after an encounter that was entirely devoid of a smile). Not sure why they couldn't have responded with a friendly, "Gee, I'm sorry, but we only take cash - would you mind using the ATM?".
Anyway - I decided that I wasn't ready to give these guys another chance if they hadn't cleaned up their welcome. Walked out and went elsewhere.
I've had their bagels before. And they were ok. But my morning is pretty much complete...
