My family and I (we are Asian) went to this restaurant last night, and while the food was fine, the experience left a bad impression. We were a party of six, but we were squeezed into a small table, making it uncomfortable. I politely asked our server if we could use the empty table next to us for extra space. She said she would check with the manager, a heavy-set white woman.
The manager came back and said no, explaining that she needed to keep the two-seater table open for the weekend. However, less than five minutes later, a party of four (who were Caucasian) walked in, and the same manager combined that exact table with another to accommodate them.
If she didnāt want us to use the table, she could have just been upfront instead of making up an excuse and then immediately going against her own rule for someone else. This felt discriminatory and left a really bad taste in my mouth.
Itās funny how the establishment served Asian food but gave bad impression to an Asian family!
Iāll make sure to let my Asian community be aware about this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe food was very salty. I ended up eating it because I dont like wasting food but I hate that I wasted money. My friend sent the dish back, he didn't eat any after the first bite.
I dont like how the manager handled it. She gave us a 4 dollar discount because she claimed that "we ordered food, ate it all, complained, and then ordered bulgogi"
That is not what happened. The waitress asked if we wanted to try the bulgogi and we said no. My friend waited for me to finish, and I ate the items on my plate. All his food was there, except the first bite.
The waitress brings us a dish of bulgogi and we were confused.
We did not eat any of it.
When she came back, we told her that we hadn't ordered anything else.
They ended up taking his food off the check but she basically told him, next time we replace your dish just eat it.
He didn't ask for a replacement. Next time dont make food that someone doesn't order, or just make food that isn't so salty in the forst place.
Not going back. Not when there are so many other better places to get...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe wait staff were very pleasant and attentive and get 5 stars, but the food can only be described as a salt bomb created by an amateur line cook. The beef bulgogi tasted like it was bathed in soy sauce for a year, then cooked with some kind of bottled marinade you get from the clearance shelf at Walmart. Same with the glass noodles (chopchae). The pancakes (buchimgae) were more like doughy American pancakes rather than traditional Korean pancakes. The owners/cooks might be 1st gen Korean-Americans, and that might work to lend credibility to their marketing. However, the owners should have paid more attention to harmoni's cooking when they were growing up. This is NOT anywhere close to authentic Korean food (having lived in Korea for 7 years, I kind of know the difference by now). You can't label bad tasting food as "Korean fusion" in the hopes of making it sound swanky and chic. A true fusion of tastes from different cultures is not created by grinding up salt blocks while destroying centuries of...
