China House Restaurant — Restaurant in Nashville-Davidson

I have eaten there at least ten times before. But when I went to pick up my order there yesterday, I was disgusted an appalled at the conditions there. It was like 90 degrees inside, the counter, floors, cooking area and prep area were so cluttered and disgusting. I don't think they have ever wiped off the surfaces of thier register area. The plastic over the register is yellow with grease and I physically almost gagged. I paid for my food and took it back to work. The second I opened the bag, a barage of fruit flies came out. I tried calling from Mt work and no one picked up. I could not leave work to take it back and was working well past thier closing hours. I tossed the food into the trash and will not return. Why are these places not held to safety and cleanliness standards like other places? The health department really needs to investigate.

Ps if you only ever get delivery,,, the food may look good, but you have no clue the conditions it is coming from. Just a warning. Stop in and look around sometime. I guarantee you are eating more 20 year old grease and flies...

I usually have a good experience when ordering from here. Today however was totally unacceptable. I went in this afternoon to order dinner, placed my order and waited. When I first arrived I saw one of the owners sitting and eating (which was fine with me not the issue, an I know it was one of the owners as I frequent there often). Well the same owner that was just sitting and eating, went into the kitchen without washing his hands. He then proceeded to assist with fixing my food again without washing his hands. He then grabs broccoli with his bare unwashed hands and puts it on my plate. The workers that began preparing my food where using their cellphone then stopped without washing hands made my food then got back on the phone. Another worker microwaved my fried rice as it appeared to have been sitting there a while before I arrived. I just left the restaurant without getting anything and went to another. I am glad I did not prepay. Needless to say today's visit was not...

3 1/2 Stars upgraded to 5 due to all the irrational haters. Egg Foo Yung is excellent! Dumplings super plump & tasty. One order definitely enough for a full meal. Chicken on Stick tenders cut VERY generously, and I especially like the marinade they use. It causes the edges of the meat to slightly crisp up and blacken, while the meat is really moist, and has that classic Chinese red-barbeque color. Makes them seem fire-grilled. Yes, the man who takes orders seems curt, but once you realize that, let it go, because he is proud of his business and puts out a good product. Besides, if you need someone to make nice with you, talk to the lady. I prefer to go there and place my order in person, shop for 10 or 15 minutes in Food Lion next door, and then return to pick up my fresh, hot and tasty...
