My newest favorite discovery on Nolensville Road - Laura's Cocina! 5️⃣⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I’d seen a few posts about it here and my husband and I were in the area, so we decided to check them out. We were blown away by food - taste, quality and quantity all top notch! Service was great too - we had a sweet waitress, Ashley, who was very attentive, and served us quickly and efficiently.

Ashley quickly brought hot chips and fresh salsa to get started with. They alone were so good! We’d heard Laura’s dip was a must, so we asked about it and it has queso, bean dip and ground beef. There was also chorizo dip, and my husband loves chorizo, so we asked for Laura’s dip only with chorizo instead of ground beef. It was fabulous!

For entrees my husband got Laura’s Fajitas and I got Quesabirrias. OMG! They came out steaming and sizzling, and the quantities were HUGE! We had plenty of leftovers so will enjoy for lunch the next couple of days. We ended with the flan, a nice sweet ending to this wonderful meal.

While we were gorging on all the food, the owner Juan came by and spoke to us for awhile. He and his wife Jesse own and run the place. He’s of Mexican descent, and his wife is from Honduras I believe, so the menu has both Mexican and Central American cuisine. It’s a very extensive menu and most everything is made from scratch with very fresh ingredients. We can’t wait to go back to work our way through the menu. As far as alcohol, right now it’s only beer, although Juan said they should be getting their full alcohol license soon so then we can get margaritas- yay!

This place is a MUST GO!!!😋 Check out my pics & videos...

Based on the reviews I went here. From the pictures alone I was going to skip it but sometimes a hospital cafeteria hole in the wall can be good underneath. The decor and atmosphere needs a lot of work if you need more help getting my drift. So what was good? The avocado cesaro and the chips. The server. She was real. An excellent, very kind and caring. So ... It was clear the food quality was above average, and the cook (Laura?) shows pride in abilities and skills. I'm not a regular partaker of Mexican food mainly because I don't consider it to be very healthy at all - nor is there much difference between every other Mexican restaurant generally speaking (And believe me there's no shortage in Nashville, especially on this strip of Nolensville road.) Between them all it's really just slight variations of the same dishes over and over, but at least at this place the ingredients quality was actually noticeably part of the requirement instead of being focused on cost and whatever was the cheapest. Anyway, we had a guest in town so we went. Would I go back? No. Biggest reason Is cost. It's that I just don't see the value in spending this much money (20 per person w/water) on this kind of food. It doesn't matter how good your ingredients are at the end of the day it is still just monotone food. So maybe if you got guests in town, or don't want to put focus on presents decor or atmosphere and want same old Mexican with more quality ingredients and a higher price tag then this...

Small family owned Authentic Mexican food restaurant in Nashville. It's about time. When I say authentic, I mean it's not the run of the mill "Tex Mex" place that you normally see. They have fresh ingredients, all homemade from scratch when you order it. The produce is locally sourced and you can taste the freshness. I went with 3 other people and all of us agree it's our new favorite place to get fresh Mexican food. I had fajitas with homemade corn tortillas, my wife had a fajita burrito and the flavors were unbeatable. They had a couple different flavors of salsa with varying heat. I loved the tomatillo flavor the best, we also got a small bowl of queso and my absolute favorite item Guacamole Casero. The chips came to the table hot which is a big plus in my book. They have a wide variety to choose from on the menu to match anyone's taste. The owner's John & Yessie Lopez, came out and spoke to us while we were there. We can't say enough good things about their food. Go try it! Remember it takes a little longer to get your food, because when you order it they make it fresh, but it is totally worth the wait when the flavor and quality...

I visited Laura's Cocina after seeing the high ratings on Google, but my experience was somewhat mixed. I ordered the beef tripe soup and Laura's burrito, expecting a Mexican meal. However, I later realized that this is actually a Honduran restaurant, which might explain why the dishes I chose didn't fully meet my expectations. The beef tripe soup was decent, with a flavorful broth that was similar to other spots I've tried in the area. The burrito, on the other hand, was a letdown. The steak was unseasoned, and the combination of lettuce and raw onions didn't work for me. I now realize that I should have ordered Honduran specialties like baleadas or pollo con tajadas. For now, I'll give it 3 stars, but I plan to return and try the dishes that they are known for, which might change my opinion.

By far one of the best Hispanic restaurants I’ve been to since moving to Nashville. I’ve been so tired of all the TexMex since moving here. We tried a little bit of everything, The Carnitas are the best. The chicken stuffed chile relleno was mouthgasmic. The tostada ceviche is the best in Nashville. The green sauce enchiladas and steak tacos were great but compared to everything else….Laura’s Dip is a fantastic starter. I genuinely don’t have a single complaint. My only complaint I have is that calories aren’t free. I’d eat everything if I wouldn’t blow up into a whale. So, I’ll just have to try something new every time I come. I will be coming back with friends. This is amazing!
