At best, I experienced radical incompetence. At worst, racism.
Walked in today were some of the white people there. Having seen a couple of open tables, it took unreasonably long to be seated. I was eventually pointed in the general direction of a table I could sit in. But I had to go find it myself, and once I found it, there weren’t any chairs and I had to get my own chairs and then I had to get my own high chair (I was there with my wife, toddler and new born).
Once we sat down, we waiting for a long time with no service. I can’t remember how long as I wasn’t timing it, but it did seem unreasonable. Eventually I flagged someone down and asked if we could order, she said yeah as she walked away. She never came back.
Finally, I told my wife that we would set a 5 minute timer and leave if we haven’t been served yet. During that time, not only were we not served, but a Thai lady came in and was warmly greeted, was seated right away and served right away.
We left right away and just suffered the tantrum of our hungry and disappointed toddler that would ensue.
This was such a shame. I have been buying lunches and dinners for my family from here for over 6 years. We loved and enjoyed Toy, one of the family matriarchs. We love to support local and We have always loved the food. This is a restaurant that we even made certain to support during the pandemic. Disappointing is an under statement. We will...
Read moreThe staff, particularly our waitress, was exceptionally friendly and cheerful—her positive energy truly stood out. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives ended.
We ordered a variety of dishes : Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, Massaman Curry, and an Eggplant Stir-Fry. Regrettably, not a single dish met expectations.
The noodle dishes were especially disappointing. Both the Pad Thai and Pad See Ew lacked the signature umami flavors typically imparted by fish sauce or oyster sauce. Instead, they were overwhelmed by an odd, almost cloying peanut flavor that not only felt out of place but was strong enough to make me nauseous. We managed to eat a bit of the Pad Thai, but the Pad See Ew was nearly inedible and left untouched.
The Eggplant Stir-Fry was another letdown. The eggplants were undercooked, which made the texture unpleasant. Similarly, the Massaman Curry had several chunks of potato that were not cooked through, giving the impression that the dish had been rushed or poorly prepared.
What could have been a comforting and flavorful Thai meal turned out to be an unfortunate experience, leaving us with more disappointment than satisfaction—and regret for the money spent. I don’t understand how so many people have left glowing reviews...
Read moreOh my, this is our favorite new restaurant. Not sure how long it has been in Nashville but we recently discovered it when trying to avoid the afternoon traffic jams after an appointment. Since that time we have probably visited at least half a dozen times in a 3-4 month span. Although we live an hour away this is a restaurant I would make that drive for alone for many reasons.... the white linen tables, the fresh flowers, the abundant welcoming as we enter, the service - being treated as welcomed guests, the gratitude of our business exudes not only in their words and not just to us but to every one I have seen walk through the door. And let's not forget the food. It is fresh. I have found I really enjoy the Thai Basil Chicken (I believe it is called) but oh my... one round of the fresh spring tolls and coconut soup.... I have a new favorite!!! On occasion they will play soothing music which adds to the joy of the visit for us. We can totally enjoy a meal free of dishwashing and forget about the crazy world of evenong traffic jams while everyone else fights to get home. We thank them for their generosity and service with our repeat...
