I agree with a previous review, the quality and customer service has gone downhill! I've had a mix of good and then very slow experiences since Starwood restaurant opened up 3 years ago. As a result of how Eugene, the owner, recently spoke inappropriately towards me, I will not be returning. I dined on a Thursday and the waitress overcharged my card by $60 (the original receipt was $18) . The waitress was kind & apologized several times and I took it to be an honest mistake and she informed me that the $60 was someone else's order and it would be refunded the next day. 24 hours later it was not refunded so I called Starwood at 5pm and asked to speak to the manager. Eugene called me back 5 min later and I commenced to tell him the situation and he cut me off and said very rudely, "You called at the worst time and I can't deal with this right now. That's like if you go to Walmart and you want a refund...". I told him I didn't need any examples and that I just needed to know when my refund would occur. I also informed him that if my call was an inconvenience then he could have asked me if it was cool to call back the next day. He responded, "I didn't know what you wanted thats why I didn't say that initially." He then says out the blue, "I know who you are and where you live!" That shook me! That's not appropriate to say to someone and I'm from NY and that's not something you lightly toss around! I have patronized this restaurant well over 20 times and I've never had this disrespect. His tone and inflection was inappropriate. I was not belligerent and his disrespect was truly astonishing! This incident happened on Friday at 5ish and it's Saturday night, a day later, and do you think I've received an apology call? Heck, like he mentioned, He knows where I live and he has my number! On the phone call, I told Eugene it seemed like he was having a bad day but you can't treat people like this. He seemed so frustrated that I would call a day later after the incorrect charge that he even said, "It's pizza, why are you making a big deal over a $60 charge that will come off in 4 days!" I have NEVER been treated with the disrespect from a store owner before! Customer service is imperative to me! Mistakes happen but the recompense that a business owner makes shows the customers if they are wanted back! The food is good most of the time (couple of times they messed up my order) and I continuad to return the first 3 years because there should be room for grace with new restaurants but this incident was the tipping point for me! Starwood really has to work on their customer service.
Update: In response to the owners reply, I did not know we were neighbors until you mentioned you knew where I lived. At that point on the phone, I knew you were the owner. I think 48 hours is enough time to for you to apologize after I addressed my concerns. An apology goes a long way. Y'all inconvenienced me and yes I can wait a few days to be refunded but the waitress should have been upfront about it and the disrespect is totally uncalled for! I don't know you personally Eugene but why mention where someone lives. Smh. Also, I looked at the other reviews and the owner Eugene apologized only one time but seemingly did so in a condensing way. My two cents: as a small business, please remember than an apology...
Read moremy boyfriend and i were regulars here, we would come and get the gluten free pizza and have never had a problem until yesterday nov 15, 21. we thought it was a normal monday and we just wanted pizza, we called ahead but no answer, no worries. when we got there though it completely changed, my boyfriend held the door for me and a few other, they’re turned the place into a hookah lounge/bar which i didn’t mind we just wanted to get the food asap and leave, we were never trying to stay and join. but when i turned back i see my boyfriend at the front door getting pushed back for no reason whatsoever, i immediately go to see the problem, to which i see my boyfriend trying not to escalate the situation and the man who was claiming he was a usher or whatever starts asking for my id to which i responded is this not starwood pizza?? and if it is do i need to have an id to get pizza cause this is ridiculous. he immediately started acting different when he realized he wasnt alone and singled out my boyfriend in front of everyone. at this point he made a huge scene and everyone is looking. including everyone working in the back which they did nothing about the harassment and were borderline allowing it. i’ve known eugene for a few months and i just can’t believe he allowed the establishment to turn into that and to scare off the usuals. i’d hate to say it but we will not be returning, we don’t feel...
Read moreThis place is overall trashy. From the parking lot full of weird/shady characters wandering around, the atmosphere, the decor (or lack of), the set up (it’s not a huge place and it’s not small either but the set up makes it awkward), the staff (especially the rude bartenders), to the air quality (you can barely breathe from the hookah & weed smoke). The bartenders do not like to serve women in general and definitely don’t want to serve you if you’re attractive or if a man buys you a drink (especially the one they call “Bree”) The bartenders are messy as well and will most definitely get in your business if given a chance or if they see you getting too much attention from men. The bathrooms stay nasty and are never cleaned. The food is mediocre, not consistent, and takes forever (that’s if you can even catch a server to get an order in!) They do not have a large selection of liquor, mostly low budget spirits. It takes forever to get a drink and the drinks are just okay but the price or the pour is never consistent for the same drink order (I was charged $7 first drink then $10 second drink for the exact same thing.) If you’re looking for a low class, dirty, ratchet vibe then this is your spot! Trust there are many more deserving black owned businesses to spend your...
