Since Willie Bs opened, I’ve been a frequent customer from happy hours to brunch to late nights. Recently, they’ve made many changes that has altered the entire experience. My visit today (12/4/21) would most likely be my last which is hard to say since it’s the only one of its kind.
I’ll first start with the waitress’s attitude from the beginning. When we sat down, she took over 15 minutes to greet us. This has never happened at any of my prior visits. The servers are usually prompt and sometimes beat us to the table.
I ordered a sprite with my order as I have done in the past. When the checks came out, I noticed I was charged for every refill. I was never informed that free refills no longer exist. I looked at the now paper menu we were given and it is not listed there.
I was also charged gratuity, which I understand since we had a somewhat large party. I was also charged a service fee in addition to gratuity. What was most frustrating was the fact that I was also overcharged for food. We pointed this out to the waitress and she responded with even more attitude than before and told us we had an outdated paper printed menu. We look online and the menu online is the exact same as printed with matching prices (not what we were charged). My entire party was overcharged. After a little going back and forward over “outdated” menus, she finally changed the price.
The food and vibe was great as usual. Unfortunately, the unprofessionalism of the waitress and service has made me lose interest in the establishment. In addition to this, the bathrooms were not clean. The wallpapers are peeling, floors are greasy and there’s makeup and dirt stains all over the place. I hate that the experience has deteriorated. This is also evident in the lack of customers. At prior brunch experiences, it was always packed requiring a reservation. Today proved to be quite empty. We must not be the only customers disappointed by this new experience. It does not live up to the high expectations set when it was first opened. (Photos of the menus and our receipt are attached).
Update: After being contacted by the FOH Manager Jimmie Woodruff, I decided to give them another try. When I revisited, I was sat at a table quickly and serviced promptly. The waitress, Cydnee, was phenomenal. She informed us about the outdated menus and even went the extra mile to tell us the price difference if we ordered something with a price increase. I did not order soda as I was not willing to pay another $9 for a plastic cup of sprite. I did enjoy a lemon drop which was great and came out quickly. Food was delicious as usual. Jimmie went the extra mile to reach out, invite us back and even changed his birthday plans to ensure he was there for our visit. He’s a huge asset to Willie B’s and deserves his...

Booth for myself & 3 of my friends, waitress asked what we wanted to drink, my friend said 'water' - the waitress brought a small cup of ice and a bottle of FIJI water [cost: $5.00 plus 20% gratuity!! - my friends food was cold, not consumed & her bill was almost $7.00!!!!!] RED FLAG! Ordered basic breakfast [eggs with cheese, bacon, Belgium waffles, fried potatoes] note: ordered a cocktail which was very small [cost: $15.00 PLUS 20% gratuity] as my drink was becoming watered down waiting 35 minutes for my food, when the food arrived it was COLD. I asked could I get 'fresh food' - the waitress took my food back, came back in 5 minutes with a microwaved version of my original 'cold' plate, all the food was rubbery, stiff & inedible. I stated I did not want that food & could I please just have an order of wings. 45 minutes later I receive a bill for almost $50 however I had not seen, heard from or tasted a single wing. I explained I had not eaten yet, the waitress took the bill back. I explained I no longer wanted the wings & we were about to leave......[red flag alert!] I then received a bill for the watered down drink that I never fully consumed & for a bottle of FIJI water- -TOTAL BILL COST: $30.00 which included the 20% gratuity!!!! WHAT!?!?!? Oh heck NAW, I said I will not pay for this as the experience was horrible, my drink was now watered down & the FIJI water was overpriced. I did NOT pay and WILL NOT EVERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR go back to that "establishment" again. Can't support Black Owned if you try. Not bashing, just noting, the waitress said 'oh it's only 2 waiters here today" THEN when a supposed manager was called over to our table because I refused to pay, there was NO manager in the facility, the BARTENDER had to leave her post, come to the table just to say "oh well the drink is on me...." These establishments have to pay better, serve better & have better...
Read moreWould give a 0/10 .. FIRST made a reservation for 11:30am for brunch A WEEK IN ADVANCE!!!?! we got there on time and got seated immediately and it was only one other party with 5-10 people in the building (remember this). our waitress had to read the menu in order to help us order, and when we placed orders for drinks .. it took 45 minutes for it to come out, they were watered down.. tasted like syrup and they had to bring us a shot to make it stronger. we had to ask her three times to take our food order. and her way of checking on us was walking past with her thumbs up .. (please be so serious right now) alright its 12:30 now and its starting to fill up but we still have no food .. so we started asking our waitress where the food at. she said it should be out in a minute and we were like ok cool (she forgot to put our order in). we started noticing other people including a party of 10 who came an hour after us receiving LAMB CHOPS, BOTTLE GIRL SERVICE (which was garbage), AND PLATES OF FOOD that was similar to what we had ordered. seen a waitress smoking a party's hookah while walking to them. asked for a hookah and it took the girl fawty five minutes to put it in and when we asked her about it she said the price was wrong and that she hadnt put it in yet. alright well its 2pm and we got upset because we were starving, had liquor on an empty stomach, and nobody had checked on us! we had to ask another waitress what was tea with our food and she said she was going to check on it. we walked up to the kitchen to see that our food was NO WHERE NEAR DONE!!!!!! AND WE WERE THERE FOR TWO HOURS!!!!!! we told the waitress that we were leaving and that she needed to put our drinks on a ticket. we gave this waitress FIVE MINUTES TO BRING OUR CHECK AND SHE STILL DRAGGED HER FEET! so we left and went to another restaurant where we were seated in the bartender's area and she worked HARD to get our food. BEWARE! we have been here multiple times and this was the trip that caused us to never...
