Le sigh
Came back to give this a second and final chance because personally any business where I can back a fellow compatriot, well if it’s good I can guarantee you that me and mine will always back it up. Having said that, this is not one of those places.
The first time I put in an order on DoorDash of 10 pupusas and 2 tamales. After picking up the DoorDash order I arrived home to find out that three pupusas are wrong (supposed to be revueltas which consist of cheese, beans and chicharron) instead I got three of just cheese. Nothing else I felt a little jipped. As I live about 25 minutes away by freeway alone perhaps 35+ after going off the freeway; I didn’t want to make the trip back, but perhaps I should have called to make them aware.
About three weeks have gone since and my parents were like, “Okay let’s give that joint a second chance” because why not the remaining order last time wasn’t half bad. So we did.
I called the joint thinking maybe when a DoorDash order pops up it just doesn’t give the restaurant personnel the proper info when it pops up and so I placed what I thought was clearly spoken order in Spanish (I’m bilingual). Whilst placing said order I mentioned to the gentleman taking the order that they had previously messed up and and given me 3 JUST CHEESE pupusas and he took it like that was inconceivable. Telling me that revueltas have 3 different things and no way they did that. Anyways, zero sympathy was given.
And so it brings us to this. When I get there tonight to pick up the order I asked if they had separated the different types of pupusas just as to not have them get mixed up again. While paying the lady attending to me then she tells me that revueltas are $2.50 each even though Yelp, DoorDash and other services have them at $2. She said next time mention a special for $2 pupusas but minimum is 15 per order. So we go a little back and forth, I let her win she charged $2.50 per pupusa. By the way this was also after telling her they messed up the DoorDash order last time that I myself picked up.
Needless to say, she didn’t even at the minimum offer a sorry. Funnily enough she even tacked on $1 fee for using a debit card for a transaction well over $26 dollars. I asked if everything was right, she had confirmed it was telling me it was 8 pupusas and 3 chicken tamales this time (I mean that’s what she charged me offer at least). If it wasn’t cause my mom told me to check the bag BOOM I would have been short 1 tamale. But the errors and mistakes don’t stop there. When someone asks for 3 of any kind without there being 1 of any other kind you would think they wouldn’t mess up. Remember, I said 3 chicken tamales.
Well, we get home well over 35 minutes one way no traffic and we start diving into the food (the pupusas) this time the order was correct they actually tasted pretty good. But then we get hit with another mistake, wrong tamales. We got one chicken and 2 pork. We’re befuddled as there shouldn’t have been any confusion againnnn as I personally asked for 3 chicken. Fool me once, shame on me... fool me twice, won’t get fooled again.
My mom made an observation, she said the place looked dilapidated and since the pork tamales showed signs of being reheated she said that since there were no customers at the joint that they probably put what they want in orders as to get rid of what they can. She also said they probably don’t care to make an error because customers will realize the mistake already far away at home. I kind of agree. There shouldn’t have been a mistake today, let alone after I let them know twice (and in a nice way mind you) I didn’t ask for a refund, discount, or even apologies. In all this place gets a 0 of 5 from me, but Yelp gives a minimum of...
Read moreI’ll be very honest the food is great but it all depends on what you are eating. Las pupusas are fantastic good flavor not greasy. We had the atol de elote it was great. Las aguas frescas very good. I finally tried the caldo de camarones let me tell you it wasn’t what I was expecting. I can make a better caldo at home. It was very salty to much condiments and very concentrated. I can tell it was made on the spot, hardly any vegetables it looks like you just add some pico de gallo and call it at deal. The shrimp were too small not enough shrimp and also everyone knows when you make caldo de camarones you always cook the shrimp with the head and the not peeled to give the soup a flavor. The tortillas were awesome . The salvadorian breakfast wasn’t the best. Like I said i had better the reason why I said that you paid so much for all these plates and you don’t get enough food to compensate the price. I love food trust me and I been around. Long enough to know the differences from...
Read moreScammers. Worst Salvadoran restaurant. I went to pay and the woman with eyeliner and gold chain necklace gave me such an attitude for using a card instead of cash. The receipt says $77 and she gives me a second receipt that says $88. Adding automatic extra gratuity of $10 for a table of four. I check the menu and they are charging me $1 extra per drink. $1.50 extra for a side. $1 extra for platanos. And $2.00 extra for empanadas that were only $5 on the menu. She rolled her eyes and was super rude I paid and left because I was in a hurry. I have been robbed and have never felt so disrespected. I love Salvadoran food but I will never recommend or return to the restaurant. I would give no...
