My regular travel for work takes me to mostly small or rural towns throughout the country and abroad. I love Sushi but often times my destination doesn’t have availability of Genuine Sushi restaurants, and when it does they are often disappointing. I have also been to over 100 sushi restaurants, and I am well aware of what a quality restaurant should offer. I thought I would Give New Tokyo a try. Although the dining area Was sub par it was very clean. The service was above average and worth the 20% tip. And they didn’t offer sushi bar seating. The shining star here has to be the food. I ordered the Sushi and Sashimi dinner combo with Miso soup, which came immediately. The main dish took a little longer than I expected to arrive but, it had to be the finest presentation I have ever seen. Additionally the portions of sushi and sashimi fish were extremely fresh and generous. It was served on a baking dish filled with ice and topped with layers of bamboo and garnish. I savored the entire meal slowly while consuming fresh shaved slices of ginger. Extremely satisfying. I would highly recommend this restaurant to any true sushi lover… The bonus was the low cost for what was delivered Although I cannot speak to the rest of the menu… There was a steady flow a patrons ordering and consuming it with great pleasure. And the drive up window was pretty constant. In a city environment where expectations may be higher I may not give it five stars because of the dining area. however giving way to the location in New Albany Mississippi… This restaurant...
Read moreEdited: I am honestly so sad to edit this. My husband and I have been coming here for 7 months now and have loved it but the past 2 times we have gone just feels like it has gone down hill. The sushi roll pictured is no longer that big nor thick and it is the same price! The waitresses we have had the past 2 times havent been good at all and for our tickets to be $80. (2 sushi rolls and 2 hibachi combos) I'd really like to be served by someone who isn't wearing athletic shorts and tank tops. The last time we went my sushi roll came out when we had already finished the rest of our food and we were just so disappointed one of our favorite places is just not how it used to be.
I don't write many reviews but this place deserves one. My husband and our toddler have been here 4 times now and we have had the best experiences everytime. The food is AMAZING! I have never liked sushi but since going here I realized I just had never found my roll. I literally want the super crunchy roll everyday. Not only is the food top tier, the service is wonderful too. They have always been so nice and attentive, we feel so comfortable going there and will return as...
Read moreAbout the only thing good I can say is that the food was hot. Ordered appetizers of onion soup, spring rolls, and entree of steak and shrimp fried rice. Soup was good but would have been nice to have eaten with the spring rolls. Originally had asked the waitress to let us order appetizers but wait for entree but was assured that could order it all right then and it would come out "hot". But soup came out, then she brought fried rice and only went back for the spring rolls because we were confused why we didn't have all appetizers yet. Only then did she realize that we didn't want all the food at one time as we had to explain that either soup and rolls would go cold, or the steak, as we ate the other. Yum, yum sauce was good, as was soup, and steak was tender but everything was bland. No vegetables at all in fried rice. Outside of building made it difficult to know where front door was and if they were even open....
