Knuckle Heads — Restaurant in New Bedford

First what to say we had a very polite,and kind waitress. She was a wonderful server. My problem came when what I ordered and waited for while other guests came and left and my son had his appetizer, I was told was put on hold while they prepared the appetizer, which i know is a common practice because we are asked when we would like our food to come out. We were told they had run out of the item we ordered and asked if wanted an alternative. I said no, I had come specifically for what I had ordered but assured my son, I would wait if he wanted to get something else. He declined. Our waitress went and spoke with someone else behind us. This person, whom I did not see, but my son said had been tending the bar, spoke loudly with an unfriendly tone, "oh well, it's not our fault. Nothing for us to do." First, I did not complain, but I was very upset after hearing that because, rather than have me sitting and waiting, they could have let me know when I ordered that my order was not being placed. They could have let me know that that item may run low and ASKED if I wanted it held. They could have not charged me for my soda and just for my son's appetizer. There was anything they could have done besides be loud and rude. Again the waitress was very kind, and I'm thinking she was trying to make it better by speaking to that other woman or at least let them know what happened but we had not complained or asked her to speak to anyone. We simply said no to alternative menu items. I used to always order from them, mostly to go, but now I'm all set. I'll not put myself in the position to have to wait nearly half an hour for food thst never comes or hear that type of negative...

Was There Yesterday 1/15/17.. It Took 15 Minutes To Be Seated, When We Got Seated It Took Another 15 /20 Minutes To Get Our Drinks , Another 15 Minutes Passed, I Had To Call Someone To Take Our Order.. I Didn't Know Who Our Server Was, As There Were Different People Who Had To Be Called To Give Us Service. People Who Came In After Us Were Served.. We Ordered A Bacon Cheeseburger & The Lobster Roll W/ Fried Clams & 45 Minutes Later We Still Hadn't Received Our Food. I Had To Flag Someone Down Again About My Order...5 Minutes After Our Food Was Served.. Not One Person Came To Check Or Ask If Everything Was OK.. I Then, Had To Get Someone So We Could Pack Our Food, They Gave Me A Sandwhich Container To Put Our Food Into. I Was A Gluten For Punishment Because I Ordered The Fried Oreos For Dessert & That Was Another 15/20 Minutes, But, Before I Received My Dessert They Placed My Bill on The Table.. When We Got The Dessert A Waitress Came & Asked A Couple of Times If Everything Was OK... Unbelievable !!! Terrible... Terrible Service... I Left A Small Tip of Cash & Paid For My Meal W/ Credit Card. When I Paid W/ The Credit Card , The Waitress , I Guess, Was My Waitress, Looked For Her Tip, I Told Her, That The Tip Was On The Table & She Ran Over To The Table To Retrieve The Tip... I Didn't Know Who Was Suppose To Receive The Tip, As I Didn't Know Who...

New England is synonymous with world-class seafood, and New Bedford is the heart of New England’s seafood industry, and anyone in the know knows if you want great New England seafood in New Bedford, you go to Knuckle Heads.

I ordered the Seafood Platter (Fish, Shrimp & Scallops served with a side of hand cut fries and Cole Slaw), and man, this thing was ginormous! Easily enough for two fully-grown, hungry adults. The cod, shrimp and scallops were battered and cooked to perfection. I thought I’d explode by the time I finished it all.

I also ordered three Old Fashioneds. While delicious, I was disappointed in their size. They’re served in shot-sized glasses. I expect cocktails to be served in larger-sized glasses.

Service is friendly, but the place is usually packed and servers can be spread thin.

All in all, if you want first-class New England seafood at a reasonable price, in a comfortable, friendly, casual environment, Knuckle Heads is your place.

UPDATE I’ve since tried KH’s quahog & lobster roll - both are excellent. Their jumbo lobster roll is gigantic! I had to eat most of it with a fork to get it down to a size that I could wrap my hands around! I love that they use minimal mayonnaise, which makes for mouthful after mouthful of pure New England lobster taste. Highly...
