Lighthouse Tavern — Restaurant in New Bedford

What a wonderful find for a Saturday afternoon. The restaurant itself is a little bit inauspicious and by going to the wrong door I thought they were closed. But I am absolutely thrilled that I looked further and found the real entrance to the restaurant and bar. It wasn’t very crowded, but the staff and bartender were so incredibly accommodating to us. I felt like I was in one of those bars where everyone knows each other just because of the downright friendliness. The bar and restaurant area around it was exceptionally clean, and the bartender sure can make a really good drink. We ate a bit lite having the boneless chicken wings, half teriyaki and half hot sauce. We also ordered a chicken Caesar salad to split. The wings were exceptional. Crispy yet coated with two very distinct coatings that were superior. The grilled chicken Caesar salad was also way above par. It was made as a chopped salad, which was actually very nice.The chicken was plentiful and the dressing had a true Caesar taste. The only negative comment was the over abundance of croutons. I know that each time I come here. that I will order the Caesar, but will ask to withhold the croutons. The prices are very reasonable, and this is going to be a must return...

I've lived in this neighborhood for 30 years and have seen many restaurants come and go at this location. Heading home I decided to grab some takeout and give it a shot. I wasn't expecting too much when I went in but I was pleasantly surprised. The place has been updated but it still retains more of a sports bar feel than a restaurant. That is until they brought my food. I was blown away! This is a foodie's hidden gem. I sat at the end of the bar and watched as plate after plate, each more beautiful than the next, made their way to eager customers. I was fortunate enough to try them out on a Sunday when they offer authentic Cape verdean cuisine.
