I have been to Beirut Bites a half dozen times. Each time I have been wowed by their mastery of Lebanese dishes. I have had chicken, lamb, and beef meals, each one with the meat cooked just right, tender and full of flavor.
Additionally, Beirut Bites does something that I've never seen any other restaurant do: they remove the seeds from the tomatoes. Why is this so important? It is an Italian tradition to remove the seeds from the tomatoes to take away the bitter taste. I've never seen an American-based restaurant do this, except Beirut Bites. Least to say, their salads are outstanding, and are possibly as good as their meats.
Their rice is a combination of al dente and soft, giving the best of both worlds to customers.
Still, the most outstanding item I ever had (six stars out of five if it were possible!) was the chicken shawarma. I come from NY and I've had a lot of different types of food, but this chicken shawarma is just spectacular.
The garlic sauce is so good that I would place it above any other sauce I've ever had (and I've been to a LOT of restaurants in my time; being from NY and all). The sauce is almost the consistency of custard, but is light, semi-sweet with a cooling aftertaste.
I must also mention that the Lebanese sodas are so refreshing and thirst-quenching that I've tried every flavor of both brands available.
If you're ever in New Britain, Beirut Bites is a must try experience. 5 stars!
P.S., I've always meant to take a picture of the food, but it always seems to disappear before the thought enters...
Read moreOk. Not sure how they got a rating of 5. Checked their menu for the first time. Was super starving and I just got outta work. Saw chicken haneeth in their menu. Fist impression was “how come a Yemeni dish is sold by a Lebanese restaurant”. The only thing that made me decide to get it tho was the way it looked on the images. I got it with a side of fatoosh. I am from Yemeni roots and I have to tell, it was nothing closer to haneeth and it tasted very terrible. No salt, and most importantly, no FLAVOR at all. It was like eating WATER. I gave it 0/10. I had to dumb it and I ended up ordering from macdonalds instead. At this point, I was like ok I totally understand that they are Lebanese and haneeth is not their thing. So I was like let’s try the fatoosh which is supposed to be one of their most famous dishes. Tried it and it was terrible. I make way much better fatoosh at home. I lived in an Arabic country where there were hundreds of Lebanese restaurants and I’ve been to Lebanon myself. This by far was the worst fatoosh...
