Halal Buns — Restaurant in New Britain

The restaurant left a lot to be desired, especially in terms of cleanliness and organization. From the moment we walked in, it was clear that things weren’t being managed well. The lobby had food and leaves scattered around, and the kitchen looked chaotic, with oil coating most surfaces and food visibly trampled on the floor. It gave off a poor first impression, which unfortunately carried through to the food and service.

My sibling and I ordered a burger, loaded fries, wings, a chicken sandwich, and two drinks. Right off the bat, only one drink was given to us. The fries were undercooked, cold in the middle, and honestly felt like they hadn’t been cooked properly at all. The chicken sandwich was even worse—raw in the middle and overwhelmingly sweet in flavor. The burger was dry, with the beef bacon being its only saving grace, and the wings were so salty that they were almost inedible.

We didn’t bother complaining since the staff looked overwhelmed, running back and forth. The whole time, I couldn’t help but think, “I should have gone down the street to Shah’s.” At least there, the food is consistent and the experience more enjoyable.

To be fair, the concept of the restaurant is promising, and having more halal options is always appreciated. However, the execution needs a lot of work. The disorganization and rushed atmosphere detract from what could otherwise be a great dining experience. We usually try places ourselves before taking family out, but unfortunately, this isn’t a place I would bring them to, at least not right now. Perhaps with some improvements, we’ll have a better experience in the future, but as of now, it’s a missed opportunity.

Alhamdulillah for the effort and intention behind this restaurant, but there’s a lot of room for growth. I hope the team takes this as constructive feedback and works toward creating a more enjoyable experience...

I have visited this establishment on three separate occasions and I have to say each visit comes with a side of disappointment. The first time I visited the staff forgot two items in my to-go order and served me a warm coke… the second visit I waited 1.5 hours for an order I placed online before I got to the place even though I was one of three customers. I gave them leeway because the business is new and smoothing out the kinks. The third time is why I won’t return. Staff is not knowledgeable on what’s on the menu and is lazy. They are pleasant and have good attitude but they need to look at the order tickets. I ordered a load me up smash fries, load me up chick fries and paid for extra protein, and a hot chick combo which comes with a drink and side of fries and an alpha burger. The smash fries were great and seasoned perfectly. The load me up chick fries did not come with extra protein but instead hair. They were lazy in making the aloha burger. It’s supposed to come with pepper jack cheese, pineapple bits, honey sriracha and other bits. When I opened the foil, the burger contained two patties, jalepenos and hot sauce. Not to mention when I returned with the hairy fries, it came with no remorse or offer to refund. They also forgot to serve me my fountain drink which I had to remind them again. There are too many inconsistencies with this place. The staff needs to be trained properly in food service and also learn to read the tickets and make the food according to what they’re advertising it as. If I’m going to pay $15/item, I don’t want to have to keep going back to remind them about missing items or showing their hair...

TERRIBLE DINING EXPERIENCE. NEVER COMING BACK. I have picked up food from here several times and the food rates at 4/5 but after dining here for the first time, I can say I’ll rate the place 3/5 overall because of how poor the service is. We used the kiosk to order that didn’t have built in options for adding extras to the meal. Kiosk seemed like a reasonable option to order because the register didn’t have anyone manning it. We came 1 hour before closing time and the person up front was sweeping the floor as if to close up shop. We sat down after using the notes section in the kiosk order to ask for extra Chutney, jalapenos and onions. Then the person sweeping went into the kitchen and came back with our receipt waving it at us that we’ll have to pay for extras because we have “too many extras” this was avoidable if they had just given us the option to add extras in the kiosk at a charge. Regardless, we told her we’ll come pay at the register and asked her what’s the charge but she continued to tell us how we “need to pay” for extras. Overall, I was done with this place after this. Writing this review while waiting on my food and got one of the burgers with extra chutney (image attached) but like I said, the food is 4/5. What makes me not ever want to come here again was the absolutely horrible service and rude staff. As a muslim I wanted to support this business but they need more staff training on hospitality and courtesy and they need to update their kiosk’s paid add on options before I ever step here again. Will not recommend this place to someone...
