Finally!--A worthwhile restaurant popping up in New Castle--something that does not happen very often here (although we do likely have the best Mexican restaurant in the state--El Chile Poblano--woohoo!)--instead we get things like Beefcake Burgers or Hardee's--come on guys, we can do better than that! Do not let the outside of the building turn you away--this is a great addition to our town. Hard to believe we have a place to grab some sushi here and pretty good sushi at that with a decent amount of variety. They are also fairly accommodating & will try their best to make special sushi requests (like flipping the seaweed to the outside even though it does not normally come that way--some of the waiters can be a bit clueless when it comes to sushi though, so you have to get the right waiter or be persistent--as the cooks are fantastic & are willing to make changes). It is probably more like 4-4.5 stars (comparing it to other, phenomenal sushi restaurants out there), but I am giving it a 5 star rating just for opening up here in New Castle, and with the hope that it sticks around as it seems like most good restaurants don't make it here as apparently most everyone here prefers places like McDonald's or...
Read moreOur family has been eating at Sake's since they opened. At first it was a wonderful place to go as the food and service was fantastic! You got very large portions of really good food at a fairly reasonable price and the service was so much better. Before today, it had been almost a year since we had been in there due to bad service and food. I was hoping that maybe things had improved, but NO they definitely haven't. The lady/Owner, who is always there, never once gave a proper greeting or ever ONCE checked on us. We asked to substitute a couple food items for our kids and it was an immediate NO!! We asked for yum yum sauce for our food and she just turned and walked off without any acknowledgment, so I didn't know if she even heard me until she brought it back 5 min later. I truly understand why there are never any customers in there. I could probably deal with the bad service if the food was good, but the quality and quantity is much worse and it was still almost $100 with our kids eating off the kids menu at lunch time. I wish them luck, but a lot will have to change before we...
Read moreThis place is just okay. In comparison to Sapporo’s in Indy, which my husband and I love to go to whenever we have the time and feel like driving almost an hour, the prices are about the same. They should not be. We ate here recently and ordered the chicken tempura appetizer. It was really good. Except for the fact that it is about the same price as Sapporo’s and you only get two tiny pieces of chicken. You get more than twice that at Sapporo‘s. It was not worth the money. As far as the main meal we ordered hibachi steak (he got filet and I got strip). The steak was pretty good but the rice was absolutely horrible. Overall, the quality of the food is not worth the price. My husband and I are driving to Indianapolis today to eat at Sapporo‘s instead. I really wish this place was good, because it would be wonderful to have a great Japanese restaurant in town, but it’s not. Looking at some of the other reviews I guess it depends on your taste. Neither my husband or myself enjoys this...
