Wow I have to give you (Park Restaurant)@ New Castle Indiana, a high five! My wife and I have been visiting the Park Restaurant for many years, when it was in May’s on 900 north, and now in New Castle. I have sent so many people your way and for good reason, the food, the portion size, I know not everyone needs that much food but most people love that. Okay now let me get to the point. My wife and I were traveling through Rushville Friday around lunchtime, so we stopped at the Park Restaurant. We ordered the large chef salad and the classic club sandwich, and when they brought it to the table we said no that’s not the large chef salad, and they said yes it is! So I whipped out my phone and showed the waitress a picture of the large chefļæ¼ salad, and she said oh that’s from Newcastle, we don’t make ours that big...... and the classic club was not even close. To New Castle’s, I’m sure the look on our faces let our waitress know that we were quite disappointed, so very soon a gentleman came by our table and told us that they don’t make meals like New Castle does, ā€œbut we don’t charge as much here at Rushvilleā€. He said ā€œ Ryan at Newcastle does it differentā€ We said oh okay...... my wife and I looked at each other and said we should have went to New Castle! Because New Castle’s Park Restaurant knows how to do it right. My hat is off to Ryan @ New Castle Park Restaurant for stepping up the menu and making a lot of people happy! And the prices are not any higher at New Castle!!!!! Here is a picture of the Chef Salad, and Classic Club

After going back, I have to add something here. Ok. First you should know I’ve just come from living in Phoenix, where spicy Mexican abounds. I love spicy food and have a high tolerance and love for spicy. So when I go to this little place where mama’s home cooking is their specialty, and I see something on the menu called The Death Burrito, I don’t take the warning seriously. I ordered it and after the first bite think my stomach lining must surely be burned. However do I stop? No. I’m thinking well I must have got a bite with peppers. So I take a second bite and can no longer taste as my taste buds are numb. Still I press on, determined to not let the burrito win. After the fourth bite, I concede defeat. I cannot eat any more of this thing. My nose is running, eyes watering, sweating, taste buds gone, digestive system crying for relief. No amount of sour cream or drink will help. So I ask the waitress what is in my burrito. The Carolina Reaper pepper! Dear God! The hottest pepper in the world! So dear friends, when you go to the Park, and you see the words ā€œDeath Burrito,ā€ believe it. ********************************************* Small town, home cooked food. Fried chicken. Tenderloin sandwich. Beef Manhattan. Lots of pies. Traditional Breakfast. Mediocre food but good people. Lots of older folks. You come here because you’re loyal to your home town kind of place. It was probably top notch in its day.

I’ll tell you what if you haven’t been to this restaurant you are missing out. This by far is Indiana’s best diner I have ever been to I do restaurant reviews all over. Not just big portions, but it is super delicious food is actually seasoned well. The staff is so friendly. This is a small business family owned here in central Indiana they have been in the restaurant business since 1986. I truly cannot believe how good it is. In today’s world it is often not worth going out anywhere rude service, or barely food that’s been thrown together. This place hits the mark every single time. There is absolutely positively no restaurant like this forget your Texas roadhouse, forget your Olive Garden, cracker barrel they don’t have a drop in the bucket compared to the taste and quality of the food that is served here at this diner. If you get a chance to go it’s well worth the drive from anywhere. Hands down this is the best restaurant I have ate at in probably 30 years. Do yourself a favor run don’t walk. If you come by, and it’s Super busy pull in, and come in because they’re quick to get you a table, and it does not take long to get your food the staff is so excellent.

My day's started out with my stepmother and us trying to find a place good to go for lunch in New Castle. Not many mom and pop places left good enough to go there anymore. She mentioned of this small place. I had never heard of so I said let's give it a try. It sits back off of RD. 3 tucked behind another restaurant that you could miss easily. If you are going there, please look hard for it because you will regret it if you do not find it. They have expanded their dining room. A great deal from the last time I was there several years ago. We went in looking at the specials of the day and the menu. We could not decide so we started looking at other people's plates and we made a decision on the specials of the day Which was chicken or beef and noodles and two sides for $8.99. What really got us was the portions were so large that we would be able to split a plate. They do charge a $1.00 if you ask for an extra plate for any .reason. That "IS" on the menu. They have a wide variety of choices and very large portions of salads, sandwiches, and on entrees. The chicken and noodles were great. Of course, you have to add your own seasoning and also if you pick the mashed potatoes, do tell them to put them on the side if not they will put them under the noodles.šŸ˜¶ā€šŸŒ«ļø They prefer busy in their on a saturday afternoon and the waitress did wonderful. Plenty of homemade pies to choose from. Reminds me of a good old-fashioned Mom and pops diner with an upgraded feeling. Good food, good prices, good portions, and...

ā€œPark always has good food and good service.ā€ with 5 stars used to be my review.

After today, we won’t be back. We haven’t eaten here in a while but ordered today and I guess, even though I was specific, that I wasn’t specific enough and my food wasn’t how I ordered. I called and asked to speak to a manager.

My 1 star review has nothing to do with my meal being wrong. I did that because I heard the snarky comment from the girl who answered the phone as she handed the phone to the manager. I was not rude or mean to her in any way. I didn’t realize I should have had a longer conversation with the girl who answers the phone to make sure she doesn’t think I’m rude for saying - Can I speak to a manager please? Next time I’ll make sure to say - Hi! My name is … How are you today?! I was wondering if I might be able to speak to a manager please?

For sure. Next time I want to speak to someone I’ll make sure to waste the time of myself and the other people working there by having a conversation while you try to prep for the dinner rush. My bad. šŸ™„

But it won’t matter. Because my husband doesn’t like eating at Park anyway and only does once in a while for ME. And I’m done with rude restaurant workers. I understand restaurant work and customers because I did it for years. But I WAS NOT rude in any way BECAUSE I understand the restaurant industry. So to have someone be rude simply because I had a complaint… No. Customers CAN actually have valid complaints without being rude. People like her are why I...
