Hall's Commissary — Restaurant in New Haven

Sam, the manager, saved the day. My daughter made reservations for Mother's Day and our original waitress was vey rude. Upon our initial contact, the waitress took our drink orders but her attitude or lack of wanting to be bothered was clearly evident. She never placed the drink placemats/napkins on our table. I overheard her telling another table the daily specials. I had to ask her about the specials. She walked away and grabbed the flier that listed the specials. (At this point, I wanted to give her piece of my mind). She rudely placed it on our table and walked away. I tried getting her attention and she just blew us off. The manager, Sam, witnessed the entire event and noticed her demeanor and quickly intercepted what could have turned into an ugly situation. Sam was very pleasant and took very good care of us. She mentioned that the other waitress was having a challenging day. But the other waitress continued to cater to the needs of her other tables. My daughter and I were nothing but pleasant to the first waitress. The only difference between our table and the other tables was that our skin had a little more melanin than any other table. Hmmmmmm! Makes me wonder! Food was good, but do not know if...

I ordered several items to try for takeout. Southwest eggrolls: in my opinion, needs beef instead of chicken, less beans, and thicker crust. Flavor was alright.

Mozzarella sticks: breading was too thin, marinara was good.

Buffalo chicken loaded mac n cheese: Mac n cheese itself was creamy but needed salt/ lacked flavor. Toppings made it better . Definitely would get again.

Denver burger: cooked perfectly and delicious. No complaints at all.

Memphis two fister: THE STAR OF THE SHOW! Burger was cooked perfectly. Topped with plenty pulled pork and delicious coleslaw. The sauce was delicious will definitely order extra on it next time.

The sides: Potato salad: flavor was perfect but the texture showed that it was previously frozen. Fries: delicious

Ordered special of the day at 12pm which was Raspberry chicken, mashed potatoes and vegetable. Waited at window for a few minutes. Received order but didnt open until 20 minutes later when returned to work. Had chicken on top of bed of rice. Cooked broccoli as the other side dish. Called manager. She said menu had a typo and shouldve been rice not mash potatoes. She said carry out window should've stated that, but didnt.
