Only 1 star for the young ladies who were behind the counter for being so apologetic on behalf of their unprofessional, gavone boss. After an amazing 1st time meal at "ZENELLI'S", across the street, we gave this place a try. We were impressed with unusual canolli variety. Honestly, nothing else really looked appealing. We were raised in the Bronx, & we know good pastries, these ain't them!! My husband had the strawberry one. The color was a loud, highly died pink, which he wasn't impressed with. I went on the suggestion of staff, & had the chocolate almond one. Was filled to capacity, however flavor wasn't anything memorable. What was TOTALLY tasteless was the unprofessional, rude behavior of the owner. We had a 2 hr ride home, so we each ordered a double expresso. When you pay, your given a slip to provide to man at the coffee station. When I approached him, he was showing worker from frank pepe's something on his phone. He didn't even acknowledge me. I said, " excuse me", & he ignored me & kept bs'ing. I wanted a total refund after that, but my husband already started eating his canolli. I asked workers if I could please speak with the manager about this, & they apologetically informed me he was the boss. They said many customers complain about him. They said amongst each other, he just talks too much. They refunded our $ for coffee, & again apologized. I said, no worries, I'll write a review, & they said he doesn't read them. So I wrote my sentiments on a napkin and handed it to him. He can wipe his butt with it! This review is for anyone who wants REAL pastries, & wants to support local...
Read moreVisited today after local pizza trip. We ordered several small things to take home. We had thumbprint cookies which were wonderful. An acorn cookie, very good. We got a chocolate lemon pie slice. That was not good. The chocolate was very dense and lacked flavor. It did not compliment the lemon. The lemon itself was very artificial, tasted like it came from a can. I asked the two people behind the counter about a piece of cake called rainbow cake, which neither knew nothing about. Finally one of them said, I think it tastes like almonds and has raspberries. Ok, sold. I like almonds. When I got it home and tried this rainbow cookie cake I was really disappointed. The cake was incredibly dense, no hint of almond. Just flavorless layers with raspberry. It wasn't good and cost me $8.50! I also asked the staff about their cookies, which were the most popular. They didn't really seem to know. They weren't rude or anything, but didn't really seemed bothered to know their products. We settled on a pignoli cookie that was unremarkable and undercooked in the middle. Not a terrible experience, but not a great one either. The...
Read moreLocated right next to Frank Pepe's , we opted to go here right after for some dessert and coffee as a group of us had traveled all morning to get to CT.
It was nice to go indoors in some much needed AC and shade. They do have several tables indoors but not very big so if you have a large group, you may need to sit separately, stand or combine tables.
They offer a wide selection of tasty cannoli's and since we had gotten several different ones, I can safely suggest these are a good choice! My favorite was the pistachio and the double chocolate.
However, I would not recommend their coffee. First, the person who took my order told me they could not make a latte but essentially an Affigato.. I was slightly confused as a latte is just milk and espresso. Then he sounded annoyed when the barista told him we can make it. It was nearly $7 and it was NOT worth it. The coffee tasted burnt and it wasn't just me. Several of my friends also got coffee and ended up throwing it out.
While I did not see a sign, they also require that you purchase the stand along cookies per lb so this is not a good option if you're wanting a...
