Collado is the type of place you drive by without a second thought if you are not in the know. If you do know, and trust me, many people do know, it is an awesome spot where you can get home cooked Dominican / Puerto Rican / Latin food. The prices are reasonable and everyday they have the $5 lunch box to go and let me tell you, you can eat half at lunch and the other half for dinner and you still might have enough left for a snack. It is inexpensive, filling, fast and so yummy. You go to the counter and they pull out a small styrofoam container, fill it with a starch (I like white rice), beans of your choice, a protein (pernil all day, everyday), and fried sweet plantain. The rice and beans are tasty, the pork is tender and juicy and the plantain is always ripe and sweet. Not to be missed is the chicharron with green bananas (guineitos); they also have specialties like cuajitos guisados (stewed tripe), patitos de credo (pigs feet) and a host of other local dishes you might have grown up eating. They also have fried chicken, stewed chicken, steak, burgers, chicken tenders and lots of other dished. The one thing I don't care for much are the empanadas, sometimes they can be a bit greasy and the filling is average. Your best bet is anything you see in the delicious buffet. There is a clean, small area for sit down meals, but most people take it to go. Check this place out if you haven't,...
Read moreCalled to place a takeout order on 02/27/18. After being on hold for a few mins a lady gets on the phone.I told her I wanted to place a pickup order, she says “we’re busy right now can you just walk in and pick up?”. I informed her the order was being picked up by someone else who would more than likely be confused trying to order. Loudly she sucks her teeth and sighs “ ughhh what can I do for you?” My response “never mind have a great day.” To the owner(s) of Collado: customer service is just as important as food quality with an attitude like that interacting with your customers you will lose business and cause issues. I eat frequently from Collado as well as el coqui on grand avenue. The food is ALWAYS great from el coqui. Collado is more of a hit and miss sometimes the food tastes scorched. After my experience today as well as the hit and miss tendency I will never patronize this...

I tried to delete this review n was unable to. I wrote this review 9 years ago n it’s under new name n new management. This review applies to when it’s owner was Collado. So new management changed the business name on this review. With that being said I inform that I don’t do business with Sabor Nuestro so that makes this review VOID. I’ll be glad to update it to Sabor Nuestro once I have interaction with them and...
