Dixie Diner — Restaurant in New Lebanon

Let me just start off by saying I grew up going to this diner, It’s so sad to see how this place has depreciated over the years, I wanted biscuits and gravy but I was told they stopped serving breakfast after 11am well I was the only person in the place and they couldn’t make that happen so that was understandable I guess, they lovely waitress convinced me to get the lunch special (fried chicken, green beans, and mashed potatoes with gravy) I SWEAR the “fried chicken” was from the local grocery store that was premade! Its was very under temperature and I was very concerned I would get sick if I ate it so I passed on it. I ate everything else and it was okay. But I decided to leave shortly after due to my appetite being stolen by the very under temperature chicken. My entire family has stopped going and I wondered why… guess I know now. The only food that is decent is most of the specials. If it's cooked and it's not by the morning cook Nachell then it's nit worth it. They change cooks way too much. The few cooks from mid to nights doesn't season the food correctly and or over cooks or undercooked food. They don't clean their area well and they don't wear gloves while preparing the food. The outside looks like a dump and it smells like cat urine. The few times I've been there I've noticed a few cockroaches and overheard a waitress saying they saw a bedbug in one of the booths. The good help always ends up leaving or let go over favoritism. I don't recommend dinning in at all unless you want cockroaches as guests in your home. You might want to watch out for the owners. Food was good, what you would expect for a small diner. But service is what brings the rating down. Waitress not friendly, she seemed like she hates her job, food brought out and just put on table but not asked if we needed anything, no napkins, no silverware. Being our first time there, we didn't know that applesauce, cottage cheese etc was to be gotten by us, at the buffet.
