Where to begin? I suppose we should start at the very beginning. Upon arrival, we were promptly seated and warmly greeted. Within minutes, our waitress approached, inquiring if we were familiar with the menu. Having dined there previously, we both answered “yes.” We began with a round of iced teas, setting the stage for the evening ahead. Our meal began with an order of crab dip, though we found the accompanying crackers and bread somewhat lacking. Despite this, the dip itself was flavorful, keeping our spirits high. Our craving for fried chicken drew us to the menu, where we discovered the "Country Fried Chicken," which turned out to actually be fried chicken breast, a minor misinterpretation that amused us. As we waited for our entrees, we noted the dinner rush around us, understanding the delay. However, our enthusiasm waned when our plates arrived. The chicken portions were disappointingly small and thin, more akin to a couple of chicken tenders than the hearty meal we had anticipated. Although they were well-seasoned and accompanied by a flavorful gravy, the portion size did not justify the price tag of $26 each. Still being hungry, we decided to look at the dessert menu and selected the cheesecake, a special for the evening. With our iced teas long gone, we requested refills, which, to our dismay, took a considerable amount of time to arrive. The cheesecake, when it finally appeared after 15 minutes, was indeed delicious, yet our frustration had already begun to mount. Upon receiving the check, we were surprised to find a charge of $17 for the iced teas - yes, iced tea cost $4.50 and you are charged for refills. While this alone may not have been enough to taint our visit, when combined with the lengthy wait times and underwhelming portion sizes, we left feeling dissatisfied. Perhaps it was simply an off night, but for those mindful of the value they receive, I would recommend exploring other...
Read moreMy sister-in-law gave us a gift card for Christmas and we stopped by this weekend for dinner. We parked around back and were seated as soon as we came in. Real talk: I hated our table. We were set up at a two-top facing the door we came in and not only did every person who entered slam said door, they proceeded to make eye contact with me after they did it. Plus, it was very bright being next to the door. It was probably the worst table in the place, but I didn't want to be one of those people, so we stuck it out.
The food was truly excellent. It's all locally-sourced and made in house by an actual chef, not just a cook. They have a great selection of cocktails, beer and wine. I ended up with the cucumber soda (not-alcoholic). I thought it tasted like sprite and cucumber or maybe ginger ale and cucumber. It was tasty, but not all that unique-tasting. Hubby got a couple of beers and seemed to like them both. Onto the food...we started off with an order of the pretzel bites. The cheese dip is killer. I got the chicken and dumplings and hubby got the smoked chicken sandwich. I think they use the same smoked chicken for both and it is stellar. It's moist and very flavorful. I wasn't a fan of the pea pods they served with my meal (they ALWAYS taste under-cooked and slightly bitter!) I wish I would have had the forethought to ask for extra carrots instead. Those were delish! Overall, the food was really well seasoned and tasted amazing. We finished our meal off with a slice of magic pie and a scoop of house-made chocolate ice cream. Holy cow. The magic pie truly was magical and the dark chocolate ice cream was actual perfection.
Service was also stellar. Our waitress was friendly and perfectly attentive. Had it not been for the terrible table, this place would get 5...
Read moreMy experience with Vintage started at 3pm when I called to make a reservation at 5pm on a Saturday. I was told there were no reservations left for the evening, but there was open seating at the bar. Understandable for a Saturday. I thought nothing of it until 5:15pm when I arrived to a nearly empty restaurant. I expected to sit at the bar, but was seated in the dining area. I’m still confused as to why I was denied a reservation for 5pm.
Onto the space…the dining area is unique and cozy. It was great when we were first seated among 3 other tables. But boy, when it started to get busy it was LOUD. My party of four had to raise their voices to hold a conversation across the table. Not what I expected for a higher end restaurant.
Our server was very pleasant. Service in general was very slow though. We were left with empty glasses of water multiple times.
Our group ordered crab dip Brussel sprouts for apps. Both were good. The crab dip was a very small portion for the price. I ordered the chicken pot pie as my entree and was happy with it for the most part. The flavor was great, but it was very soupy. My husband got the rockfish special and was disappointed. The fish was extremely bland. The couple we were with both got burgers and were satisfied with them. The fries they were served were cold though.
Overall it was just an okay experience. I won’t go out of my way to go back, but would be willing to give it another shot if the...
