It’s interesting—the discrepancy between google reviews and yelp reviews is a full star. I have to side with yelp reviewers. Service and food both left something to be desired. We arrived and asked if there was a table. Yes, there was. She asked if we wanted breakfast or lunch, because they were switching right then. I said I don’t know, she gave us menus, she said we needed to decide immediately. I said lunch. A family walked in behind us and was asked the same. They said breakfast and were seated at the last open table. We had to wait. Had the woman told us that if we’d said “breakfast,” we’d be seated and could order food, but if we’d said “lunch,” we wouldn’t get to order food, then I’d have said “breakfast,” because we were hungry. We ended up waiting maybe 10 or 15 minutes—which, had it just been that we arrived and that was the wait time, fine. But to have watched the family after us get seated first was annoying. For Lunch, I ordered the country-fried steak with mashed potatoes and green beans. My husband ordered the crab cake sandwich. Country-fried steak: It was huge! They don’t skimp. It was okay. I wouldn’t order it again, but it wasn’t bad. Mashed potatoes: They arrived lukewarm, so halfway through my meal they were cold. That said, the flavor and consistency were good. I’d get them as a side again (and cross my fingers they’d be hot). Green beans: Yum. Flavorful. Tiny bits of bacon. Would get again. Crab cake sandwich: My husband said it was good, but he wouldn’t order it again. So overall, it was a meh. Would we return? I don’t think so.

We had a nice outdoor dinner here with some friends, and enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and friendly service. They were extremely busy on a Friday night, but we were seated in 10 minutes and our server was at our table almost immediately. We had some drinks from the outdoor crush bar while we were waiting. There is a small seating area there, and also an ice cream stand for dessert or a snack. We had the fried pickles for an appetizer (yummy!), the Crab cake sandwich (which was a little light on crab, mushy and not what I would expect for a Maryland restaurant, but fairly tasty), the Veggie wrap (which was mostly rice… not many vegetables), and the fish tacos. The fish tacos were delicious with a little spicy sauce and avocado. I thought that the portions on the fries with our meals were pretty small, though. (I think that I got maybe 12 fries with my sandwich?? A little disappointing…) The food overall was average, and not worth a 4 or 5 star rating. Prices were very reasonable. There are indoor and outdoor seating options. There are two porches on the front and back with seating, as well as a large yard area in the back with seating at tables. They have a separate bar area for those that just want to sit inside and have drinks and snacks. We enjoyed the live music during our dinner, too! There is free parking in the back. A relaxed place with fairly average food and menu choices (at decent prices) to take your family and friends.

Wonderful venue, with several different atmospheres for dining or hanging out. A regular restaurant area, a family-friendly outdoor patio with picnic type seating, and a traditional bar side. We were on a kid-free date, so no outdoor patio for us--and the indoor restaurant was a bit too structured plus we were looking to watch some football, so we quickly opted to pop back over to the bar side. Super happy they served the full restaurant/dinner menu in the bar where we chose to sit to enjoy some Sunday night football. Yet we still started with a huge portion of bar-food staple cheese fries (an app we probably didn't need!) which ended up almost being a meal in itself. For entrees, the husband had the sesame crusted tuna, with fire roasted asparagus and jasmine rice, and I had the short rib. HUGE portion of short rib chunks served with root vegetables and a tomato based ragu/gravy/sauce over mashed potatoes. Good, convincing slow-cooked (and very much homemade) flavor profile that absolutely fit the "comfort food" description the bartender gave. And I ate leftovers for 2 meals! Overall great atmosphere, with friendly patrons, and friendly bar staff, football on TV, and decent drink prices. We just moved even closer to New Market from Frederick and this is sure to become one of our regular places.

Atmosphere over food.

I'd have to say that my dining experience here is truly mixed. From the drive by the appearance of the restaurant and bar caught my eye. Upon entry I was impressed by every little thing that seemed to be perfectly chosen to orchestrate one cohesive piece. The atmosphere notably states slightly upscale but casual dining. The reception from the hostess was pleasant and I felt welcomed right away.

Unfortunately, in my opinion the atmosphere can only do so much to complete a dining experience. The food we had was the swordfish at $22 an old fashioned at $11 and a kids pizza with fries. I ordered mashed potatoes as well.

The old fashioned was fine, but unimpressive. The swordfish like the decor was simple and remarkable. I enjoyed every bite and was very happy with the restaurants choice to use a cilantro lime flavor.

The food began to fall short at the kids pizza, and the mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes were store bought spuds, I'm unsure if this is their regular expectation or if they were short on ingredients. When I sent them back after realizing what they were I received no input from my waitress. The pizza was also served on a premade crust. It was still good and not overpriced, however it did not seem to match the theme of the restaurant.

My waitress was pleasant and not overbearing. She seemed to be present when needed and away when not. A few times she fell short of my expectations as she seemed uncomfortable dealing with me sending back the potatoes. Additionally she rareley asked anything more than if the food was good.

Overall my experience was pleasant and I will likely return although, probably with lower...

I have never been treated so poorly at a place that serves the public. We went in here to enjoy a dinner and what we got was several health violations. My wife’s salad had a piece of plastic in it. We ignored it as some things happen. It was a piece of package from the lettuce. Ok no big deal right? Well next up one of our kids unrolls the silverware and lo and behold a nice fake finger nail. Our food comes and another person ordered a Caesar salad and had hair in it. I explain quietly and professionally to the manager that I’m not eating my food at this point I’m repulsed along with the rest of the party. We said we would pay for the kids meals and drinks no adults ate hardly anything. He calls the police on me like I’m a criminal the police officer took our side completely understood. We paid for the drinks tipped our waitress and left. I will be calling the health department they are seriously going to get somebody sick in this place. This place looked like it had potential but unfortunately when the manage wants to call the cops because you have lost your appetite due to the foreign objects found in your food. Mind you no one took more than 3 bites of food. Worst dining experience I’ve ever had. I was even quiet as to not cause a scene but tried to tell the guy. I never leave bad reviews but after this experience I have no choice. Please go to McDonald’s or the gas station before this. Never even received a apology. I would be extremely embarrassed as a owner or manager. The poor waitress was embarrassed I felt...
