I would give 5 stars for this place being the first coffee shop to open its doors after the relaxing of the lockdown. The indoors environment is great, roomy, and the drinks variety is really good, and well made. But...
The service is like night and day here. That's why I'm only giving two stars.
In the morning, the service is super great. The owners are cheery and positive. They greet you and say good morning, give upbeat zippy service. But as soon as they leave and the girl with the long, dark hair comes in, it's like the sun goes down.
She's a youngster, so she treats other people her age (especially the boys) really friendly-like. But with many others outside her preference, she acts as if she's just doing time at the cafe. No eye contact. No "thank you" for the business (expected in typical business). No "thank you" when I put cash into the tip jar in front of her (not exactly expected, but it would be nice that this is acknowledged). No "take care" or goodbye when a customer leaves the premises.
Whenever I order something, it's really like I'm inconveniencing her.
So, my preferred time is mornings here, when people are actually friendly, and not just "doing time" in prison.
If it wasn't for her, I'd give Elevation 5 stars.
The first time I visited this cafe, I took some nice photos and then one week later Google Maps sends me notification that one of these photos has gotten 1,700 people looking at it. And I spend generally $12-15 a day at this cafe, 6 days a week. So it's not like I'm not helping to...
Read moreWhen I was stationed up in Tres Piedras May-August 2021 for Forest Service, this was my absolute favorite haunt in town. My main barista was named Mary and we became fast friends because she was so personable, helpful, hilarious, always eager to serve, and wonderful to just talk to. She left soon after my seasonal position ended, but all other baristas are equally kind and dedicated to pleasant experiences. They make fantastic drinks, carry amazing treats, and have the coolest atmosphere of local art covering the walls and always rotating.
The owner has land that he uses the coffee grounds to help the soil and several art pieces in the place have coffee grounds saved by the owner, used by local artists. He has an eco-friendly focus, and the place also uses straws made from natural materials (the best ones were bamboo). Dog friendly (met several dog friends), indoor and outdoor seating, free wi-fi, and plenty of power outlets. Absolutely great place for students, business, and all around leisure with a lovely patio to boot.
I miss this place and always try to stop in whenever I end up back in Taos. Please give it a try! (I will add more...
Read moreReally disappointed because I had high expectations from a place with such a cool vibe. The blonde girl who was the cashier was really rude and cold, especially considering what a nice place she worked in. The barista was really kind and super sweet and even greeted us which I think is rare when someone is working so hard. I loved all the local art but the coffee and food were sub par and totally not what I expected. As a barista, I might have higher standards than others, but I couldn't even bare to get half way through my oat milk latte. Shots didn't seem to be dialed in and I was skeptical of the quality of the oat milk. My breakfast burrito was frozen and then microwaved (╯︵╰,) The tortilla was hard on one side and frozen in the middle. Definitely some serious overall room for improvement but I think there is a lot of potential to grow and be...
