Honestly, I was just let down. We went to the sister restaurant and it was fantastic a couple of weeks before “Lilette”! I expected the same from Bouligny, we started with wine and drinks and they were very nice- well put together- the wine was recently opened and the waiter suggested a great class. Now here comes the “uh-oh”. We ordered the meat and cheese board with everything on it, coming out to 40$ we started with wine and drinks and they were very nice- well put together- the wine was recently opened and the waiter suggested a great class. Now here comes the “uh-oh”. We ordered the meat and cheese board with everything on it, coming out to 40$ which I don't mind if it's good! So subpar- bread reminded me of when I was a kid and I got jawbreakers in my Halloween basket. CRUNCH. I was nearly about to break a tooth on it. I don't know the board was very basic and unimpressive. Then a couple of days later I went to Toups and got their charcuterie board for 35$! INSANE! It was so good and well put together -” meat platter” house-made meats and liver pate. Anyway back to Bouligny, I ordered the duck confit for my dinner. The duck was cooked to perfection! No complaints there- incredible- if only it had more food and it was paired with a better side than a salad. Possibly a potato au gratin? Just my opinion. Also, the burger is BOMB. Everything you could want is very yummy. The service was great and the atmosphere was wonderful as well. Such a good time with my friends. I hope that Bouligny can step up their bar food game and give out what they are asking for in terms of cost. I am not being unrealistic if other restaurants are doing it cheaper and betterhich I don't mind if it's good! Did I mention that I HATE the new "GASTROPUB" concept going on in New Orleans recently. They don't have Abita Amber here and the food is way overpriced for the basic and not so great food. Just like all the "gastropubs" that are going on in New Orleans why should I bother with mediocrity and when I can just go to a real restaurant or bar where you can actually eat a plate of food that will fill you up instead of being a snack and actually get a selection of more than 4 beers. Did I mention I HATE GASTROPUBS!!!

There seems to usually be some decent looking women in this establishment and it seems to be one of the more trendy places to be "seen" but it just doesn't work for me and I really don't like what they did with all the "modern" renovations to this classic New Orleans building.

I really like Lilette and I enjoy dining there so it is very surprising to me that I dislike this place so much. I think it just goes to the core of the fact that I love to DINE and not SNACK and that is why I just can't seem to stand any of the places called Gastropubs so far (and that none of them have my BEER). It seems to me that I have a far more enjoyable experience eating and drinking at Lilette with far better quality food, a larger selection of drinks, and more comfortable seating so why should I bother with anything at Boligny Taven other than the motivation that women like small plates and go there in large groups. Ahhh it just doesn't motivate me and I will be staying on the...

I recently started eating a Paleo diet, and this restaurant's menu was able to accommodate me without me having to make a fuss (except when I asked for the salad with no cheese, which was no problem). The food was superb, and the service was prompt and friendly. The bartender that was working at the time, Kevin, was hilarious and entertaining (which is nice when you're dining alone at the bar). He also recommended a wine that complimented my meal perfectly, and introduced me to some of the regulars.

The interior is stunning. I couldn't stop staring at the intricate details of the ceiling and the cabinetry work behind the bar. Whoever did the interior design on this place deserves an accolade. It is a swanky, but tasteful take on classic mid-century modernism. It's a cool place to be. Being there after 5 minutes, I felt cool...and who wouldn't? It's lit like a cocktail lounge, busy, but not overcrowded...and the jazzy music in the background is peppered by frequent laughs and easy conversation. I couldn't stop looking around the place and smiling. Their formula is magical. And when I stopped looking at the decor and stopped marveling over the food, I saw a few TV stars enjoying cocktails with with an entourage of movers and shakers. This place is apparently a hot spot for celebrities that want enjoy great New Orleans food without being bothered by autograph hounds. It's a hot spot for anyone, really, who wants to enjoy good food, great cocktails, and...

Bouligny Tavern is quite a unique place on Magazine in the Touro area above Garden. A perfect place for small plates and cocktails rather than a sit down multi-course meal. Plenty of well-crafted plates on the menu to make and share a meal. The atmosphere suits the intent here, quite beautiful, dimly lit, a few small tables, outside in front. From the well-crafted cocktail menu, my first was the Black Sunshine - Black & White Rum, Falernum (my fav tiki mixer), Bittermans Tepache Liquer, Pineapple and Lemon. Jumping ahead, my 2nd was the !Viva Zapata! - Jalapeño-infused Tequila, Mezcal, Lime, Grenadine and Angostura. As spicy as it was smoky (not everyone's thing). For small plates, my first was Blue Crab Claws, opting for the butter/garlic/herbs alternative at the solicited rec of the bartender. Next small plate was the Beef Bourguignon Bruschetta. Savory and slightly sweet, quite wonderful flavors packed into this somewhat heavier of the menu options, suited me well at the time. Wasn't planning on dessert, but coconut cake was a good finish. In summary, Bouligny is a great upscale cozy romantic bar scene for a couple or group of 4 max. Highly recommend, will return often.

Our first stop on the NOLA trip. We are staying in the garden district and this was about a 5 min drive or 15 minute walk. We came late , and despite my protests about this being a French vibe, my sister requested a sangria. The bartender did an excellent mashup and while it did not taste like sangria, the beverage was delightful. I had the iced tea/whiskey cocktail and it was refreshing without tasting like a premix. I recommend both drinks. I'm allergic to shellfish. The waitress was accommodating and comfortable with recommending safe foods. I wasn't super hungry so I had the gougeres. They were the perfect light fluffy bite and the dipping sauce complimented the appetizer but wasn't necessary. My sister had the burger and fries and was in love. The patio had a cute vibe as well.

On a stroll through the charming streets of New Orleans’ Garden District, we found our way to Bouligny Tavern, an awesome spot in an elegant mid-century modern building on Magazine Street. Opened in 2010, Bouligny Tavern is named after one of the first Creole plantations in the area. After admiring the historic mansions and lush oak trees on our walk, this spot was the perfect place to grab a drink. The atmosphere is sleek with dim lighting. I was in the mood for an Old Fashioned, and their fig variation was a great change up. Our bartender was equally fantastic—attentive and knowledgeable on bourbons. If you’re in the Garden District, check this spot out. We just had a drink but they serve food as well.
