EDIT: We’ve come twice more since our first excellent experience. Each time things have been a bit disappointing. The first visit they were out of the bagel with pesto. They kindly apologized at the front, and the owner himself told me he was planning on making more. We’ve come twice more since and both times there’s no pesto bagel that’s listed on their menu. Disappointing. Today, during our third visit, we were met by two guys instead of the two friendly ladies that generally work the front. They didn’t greet us like before, and when I asked for the pesto bagel (for the third time this week) he told me to go out back where they’re having an event with bagels… what? Came back in after the bagel adventure for coffee. I ordered the Honey Badger, which I had the day prior, but was a bit too sweet. When I told him that this morning and asked for less honey, he told me he doubted it was the honey because it’s “naturally sweet” and that it was probably the vanilla. I didn’t ask for less vanilla. I asked for less honey. He gave me no vanilla and regular honey. When he was done making the drinks he wanted to make, he didn’t bring them to us like the other cashiers had two visits prior, or even call my name (he never asked… they did before tho and still brought them), so the coffees sat on the counter watering down, without a label to differentiate the difference between the two (bc one was supposed to be less sweet). Also, I was charged $26+ for two large iced coffees, but the menu said $7 EACH for the Honey Badger, so be aware of that.

The everything bagel has the best seasoning ever. Perfect New York style bagel with chew and crisp outside texture… it is to a bagel what a good casing is to a sausage. IYKYK. The gimlet coffee - you’ll never taste anything like it. Get it. So refreshing. And the chocolate chip cookie is a masterpiece with chunky chocolate topped with the perfect balance of flakey salt. Everyone’s incredibly friendly, welcoming and helpful. I love this place. Day 2/7 in New Orleans and I want to start every morning with something from Coffee Science.
Was so good I barely got a good photo before...

Read moreCoffee Science, what a treat. For full disclosure, I'm currently writing this review at Coffee Science while listening to a podcast with my noise-canceling headphones. A common sight here. I have other work I should be doing, but more times than not, procrastinating becomes the priority. The atmosphere here is relaxing and calming because of the plentiful indoor and outdoor seating options and windows that bring in just the right amount of natural light. My innate Millennial anxieties are lessened by the details mentioned before and the non wobbly tables. To provide structure in my life, I usually order the same thing: an Iced Latte. This takes the stress out of choosing another item from their expansive food and drink menu. On the topic of coffee, they take their products seriously. More times than not, they will redo an espresso shot if the pull (time of extraction) isn't perfect. Coffee Science's baristas care about their craft. I appreciate the small conversations while your coffee is prepared. What else can you ask for? The only drawback is parking. Not only is the adjacent parking lot cozy, but I'm pretty sure that the parking ticket lady would have a field day. Hopefully, she gets a cafe au lait...
