Honest Review of @jamleansnola

Adam and I visited on 3/29 for a belated anniversary celebration, and your reviews helped us choose this spot! Overall, we had a good experience with a few mixed feelings.

First, the positives: The restaurant is spacious and beautifully designed. The service was good, and the chef visiting our table added a fun and welcoming touch—definitely a whole vibe! šŸ‘šŸ½ We ordered: Chili Wings Jerk Tacos Oxtails with Mac & Greens Seafood Platter with Red Beans & Rice Virgin Punch x 2

The food had great flavor, and we really enjoyed it! However, we do have two constructive criticisms:

1ļøāƒ£ Oxtails: At $28, we expected a meaty, satisfying portion. Unfortunately, the oxtails were mostly bone with very little meat, served in a bowl of delicious gravy. While the flavor was spot on, we felt the portion didn’t match the price. @jamleansnola – please consider serving a more substantial portion to match the value!

2ļøāƒ£ Seafood Platter: The crunch and seasoning were fantastic! However, according to the menu, the platter includes 3 pieces of catfish, 6 fried shrimp, and 6 jerk shrimp for $27. My plate had 3 pieces of fish and 6 fried shrimp, so not receiving all of the food listed was quite disappointing.

Overall, we think this is a great restaurant worth trying, but attention to portion accuracy and value would take the experience to the next level!

Would we come back? Yes, but we hope to see these small improvements next...

We recently visited New Orleans from Texas and I was craving Caribbean food. I saw a FB post about Jamleans and knew I had to try it. I love to eat when visiting New Orleans and it’s usually from restaurants in the French Quarter, but this place was by far the best food I have ever had in New Orleans. There were so many great selections I didn’t know what to choose. I finally decided to get the curry goat with rice and peas and plantain. My fiancĆ© got the jerk chicken, Mac & cheese, and yams. Plus he tried a patty. Everything was fresh, seasoned well, and just pure deliciousness. And you have to try the rum punch…. It was so good and packed a powerful punch. I only needed one to get me right. Lol The bartender was also our server and he was excellent! We were the last customers of the day and were fortunate to meet the owner who is such a gem. She was in the process of preparing for their first Sunday brunch and we were able to get a glimpse of the brunch menu items which looked amazing. The restaurant was very clean and it has a nice ambiance. We look forward to going back soon and trying the...

As someone who has visited New Orleans many times, I can confidently say that today, I had the best food I’ve ever had in the city, all thanks to Jamleans!

My mother, sister, and I stopped in, and from the moment we walked through the door, we knew we were in for something special. The vibe was vibrant, with live music adding the perfect backdrop to an already incredible atmosphere.

Now let’s talk about the food, because WOW. The jerk chicken tacos were absolutely unforgettable, perfectly seasoned with just the right balance of heat and sweetness. Each bite was better than the last. I also ordered the oxtails with plantains and cabbage, and let me tell you… melt-in-your-mouth deliciousness. Every dish was clearly made with care, love, and authentic flavor.

To top it all off, the owner was present, welcoming, and incredibly kind, which made our experience even better. The service was top-notch, attentive, and friendly from beginning to end. They answered all our questions. I’m so excited about this new gem in New Orleans—Jamleans is now at the top of my list. All I can say is: I’ll be...

The restaurant is beautiful, but the food was a little disappointing. The portion sizes felt very small for the price. I ordered the brown chicken stew with mac & cheese, but instead I was given brown chicken stew with rice and peas. When I asked for mac & cheese on the side and to keep the first dish since I had already eaten from it, I was told the food was remade. However, it didn’t seem that way—more like mac & cheese had just been microwaved and the same chicken put on top. Some parts of the mac & cheese were dry and burnt, which was not very appetizing. That said, the oxtails and the brown chicken stew had a sweet flavor that I did enjoy, although I’m more accustomed to it being savory. Overall, I left a bit disappointed. I may return in the future, but it really depends on how consistent the food is.
