been to Neyows many times. Back when it first opened! it’s always been a great experience all around. Truly amazing food and drinks.
This time though our server was really rude. I know it sounds dramatic, but he really was the rudest server I’ve ever had in my life lol. It was nothing we did, because he was rude from the minute we sat down. When he asked for drink orders, i said we all wanted waters. His response was an abrasive “i don’t do that no more, no one ever drinks their waters. Who actually will drink theirs?” I swear to you this is verbatim.
He realized half way through that we didn’t have brunch menus. He gave our table of 5 adults a single brunch menu lol.
Took our order just fine, and everything came out exactly as we’d ordered it. My friend politely asked if the salmon would be okay on Sunday (bc service industry standard is usually the fish is bought monday. Some places don’t have fresh fish for grilling available anymore by Sunday for this reason) and he said “the salmon is the salmon, i don’t know if it’s goodz” After that it continued to go down hill. He put our food down on the table and did not say a single word. Didn’t ask if everyone was okay/needed another drink/condiment. We didn’t get the standard “how is everything tasting” 5 minutes after the food is served either. We didn’t get any asks for refills of water, didn’t ask if we wanted boxes, didn’t offer us the check until we asked him for it (after 20 minutes). Whenever anyone said thank you for something, he would act like he didn’t hear it, would say nothing. It was very strange and cold.
Now here is where it gets a bit more unsettling. The tables at neyows are close enough to overhear what’s going on at tables around you. We overheard him offering the proper level of service and attentiveness to all other tables. His tone of voice wasn’t the same with them, much friendlier. Unfortunately from the minute we sat down he treated us like we were a giant thorn in his side. Before any of us even spoke to him and could give him a reason to be rude. Truly night and day experiences from those around us. The 2 other tables he was kind to arrived after us. They also received their checks before we did, and were gone before us.
Now i don’t know this for sure, it is speculation. But to put it simply, the other tables looked like him. My table did not look like him. I am NOT a Karen. We were all gracious, didn’t ask him high maintenance things, we’re not annoying entitled people. We didn’t comment on his behavior at all. Just let it roll. We tipped on top of the auto gratuity as well despite all of this.
I write this review in hopes the owners have a talk with this gentlemen. His name is on the ticket. In case it was someone else logged in, he was a middle aged gentleman on the taller side. He was bald with a salt and pepper beard wearing...
Read moreAverage food. However, the experience I had last Friday was the RUDEST experience I have ever had in my life at a restaurant with a waiter. Not exaggerating. I attempted to order a combination platter with shrimp over loud music. (You have to yell across the table to the people you are dining with.) During this process, she asks me what kind of combination platter I want several times. I tell her the combination platter with shrimp like 3 times as I am pointing to the item as written on the menu. She’s standing next to me and I’m not soft spoken so I know she can hear me and she isn’t asking me to repeat myself. There’s a “redfish combination platter” and there is “combination platter” on the menu. I simply want the “combination platter” as it is literally listed on the menu. (The combination platter comes with 2 seafood items and 2 sides). When she finally understands I simply want the “combination platter,” I continue to order the other seafood item (fish) and sides. She tells me I need to pick another seafood item. At this point, I’m frustrated because I said I wanted shrimp 3 times already. I sigh and said I want shrimp again for the fourth time. She flips a switch with a nasty tone and body language, and goes on about how I didn’t communicate well about what combination platter I wanted (I literally read the name exactly how it’s on the menu) and that she needed to know that first. I just stare at her watching how she’s talking. She looks CRAZY (she has no emotional regulation skills at all). I say nothing else to her and then tell the person I came with that we are leaving. I’m not finna argue with someone I could care less about. As we are leaving, I see the hostess outside and tell her I want to see the manager. She asks what section/table I was sitting in and I tell her. She responds, “oh she (the waiter) sometimes have her moments” implying this isn’t the first nor the second time this waiter has acted like that as she walks me to the manager. The manager offers to wait on us, offers a complementary dessert and it goes smoothly after that. Despite the manager handling the situation well, I will NEVER return there. The waiter’s attitude was just too much for someone who doesn’t listen well. The food was average, nothing spectacular or...
Read moreThis casual dining experience made up for some earlier food mishaps in The Big Easy. We came on a quiet night, which was surprising for a Sunday and AFC Championship day. They have a back room with 1 television, which was humid and definitely inconvenient for game watching. Thankfully, we were seated on the main floor, across from the bar, which gave us great views of the tvs. (Our teams pulled out wins.) Onto the main course, the food! You MUST have their Jazzy Wings appetizers, which is battered better than their main chicken dish. It is good but they should use the same batter on the main. The Garlic Crab Claws look miniscule but pack a powerful, flavorful and filling punch. They are tiny but they give you plenty. I had both fried and sauteed. They gave both a Remoulade and a Cocktail sauce and neither was needed. The battered were in a lightly seasoned cornmeal and the sauteed was in a light wine sauce. The Redfish dish was decent. The accompanying waterlogged mixed veggies could have been left off of the plate, along with the runny, soup-like Mac & Cheese Spaghetti noodles. I know they do them like this a lot in the South but these should NOT be. The fried Chicken entree came with Red Beans and Rice and Potato Salad. All were delicious. Standard Naw'lins but again, although good, the chicken SHOULD have the same Jammin Wings batter 'cause it's FIYAH! The incomparable Bread Pudding is EVERYTHING! It is light, with a sugar cane-esque custard. The top is crusty and flaky and it's filled with juicy raisins. Again, it came with a sauce, which was good but not needed for this divine dessert! So good, we ordered more before we finished what we had. The Hurricanes we had were solid but we added 2 shots of D'usse and let's just say, Baaaaabbbbaaay! Lil Wayne vocals What really makes us want to give 5-stars is the IMPECCABLE SERVICE, hospitality, genuine professionalism of RahTeefah!!!!! She is OUTSTANDING! She's swift, friendly, kind and a genuine daughter of NOLA. You FELT her LOVE for her City, job and customers! She needs to be duplicated all over the Service industry! Overall, definitely come and enjoy The Big...
