My husband called ahead to make sure the restaurant was wheelchair accessible for our son and was told it was, so my family and I went there today for dinner. Upon arriving we noticed that there was an aftermarket secured ramp into the building over a small, maybe 2 in lip. I thought it was awesome as most older buildings don't require the extra measure for accessibility and most won't go out of their way for a 2 in lip on the door. I was immediately impressed with the thought in detail for the customers. The staff was mostly teenagers and we were greeted right away and the menu was explained. The staff were THE most polite staff and very helpful. Everything was delicious and upon leaving I stopped to read a framed article on the wall to see who the owners were so that I could send them a note of how awesome their young staff was. While reading a lady approached and asked me if the restroom was accessible enough for my son, which uses a power wheelchair. I let her know that I dont believe he went in there but would check it out and let her know how accessible it would be for him. I asked her is she was the owner and she said she was. I spoke to her for a while about the business among other things and let her know about how great the staff and food was and had mentioned it was my husband and I's anniversary. She immediately went back and got 2 banana pudding desserts for us for free. She was so kind and welcoming and it meant the world to us that she cared about the accessibility of her business for the customers she serves and took the time to chat. Such a pleasant experience and great food and atmosphere. I highly recommend This place if ever in the area!! Thank you...
Read moreWas excited to eat here again since we were in the area, but it has definitely changed for the worst. We have stopped here twice in the last year and it was closed for staff meeting and today opened late at 4pm. We left and came back right at 4pm. Our food was terrible. The brisket was cold and dry. Tried to add moisture using the BBQ sauce on the table and it was cold as well. The meat looked as if it wasn't sliced incorrectly, causing it to be tough. I might have been cooked a few days ago, definitely not fresh. After we started eating we heard one of the boys about 20 minutes later tell the girl at the register not to sell the brisket because it was cold. He was correct. While eating we enjoyed the loud high pitched piercing sound of what sounded like an alarm going off the entire time we dined inn. I finally asked the staff if they heard the alarm since they all seemed to be ignoring it. The girl at the register said it's not an alarm it's the fryer. I will turn on the music. Great continued alarm sound with extra loud music to try and drowned out the alarm. Just what we had hoped for. The mac and cheese was not the same. It was not very hot and it was grainy. 🤢 My husband had coleslaw and said it tasted like someone just dumped milk all over cabbage. Don't think we will be back. We loved this place, but something is not right now. Young kids running it could be part of the issue or trying to cut cost with lesser quality products. Plus the cost had increased the $1 up charge on mac& cheese and corn casserole is a bit excessive...
Read moreGreat old building gives this place a lot of charm. I had the brisket dinner, which comes with two sides. I chose Mac and cheese and baked beans. The Mac was very creamy and tasty. The only thing that would make it better would be to have some crusty bits that comes with baking them for a long time. The beans tasted very good, although they would have been better with some meat in them. A lot of BBQ places put in some meat bits from the day before, which really elevates them. The brisket seemed to have some salt and pepper put on the slices just before serving, which I really liked. The part of the slices with a bit of the fat were particularly good. My wife had the two meat dinner and my son had the brisket tacos. Theirs looked really good. I tried my wife's Cole slaw, which was fine. It was supposed to be a bit spicy, but there was not much jalapeno in it. She said her potato salad was ok. Overall, it's a nice choice in the New...
