Sweet Beet Bakery — Restaurant in New Richmond

So i wanted to order a dozen of their special cupcakes for my sons 18th birthday. Yeah nothing huge but thought it would be fun. I called and got their voicemail Monday stating they weren't open Mondays or Tuesdays. I left a message. Late wednesday and no return phone call. No problem. I call and speak with someone who stated I need to speak to the owner. She took my name and phone number. Great. Thursday came, Friday came and no return phone call.

Went into the store today, Saturday to try their donuts and thought I would just speak with someone their. I ordered my donuts and went to pay. Spoke with employee their and just said hey I have been trying to get ahold of someone to order cupcakes. She stated we are really busy and we don't check or voicemails. Huh? Why have a voicemail then? I said well I also spoke to someone in person and left my info and still haven't heard from anyone. She didn't say anything.

I said well all I need is 12 cupcakes. She said what kind do you want. I said well you have all these flavors on the website can I ask some questions. She said I will be right back. She came back and said the owner would like you to come back and to set up a consultation. Huh? I said.. for 12 cupcakes? She said yes we are to busy and I don't know anything about the flavors on the website. I said that's ridiculous.

When I mentioned about posting a review based on my experience and the horrible customer service, the employee got upset and said that's not right.

I finally said well I will just pay for my donuts and left. As far as the donuts go, my son liked his cinnamon roll but the donuts everyone else said the donuts were super dry.

I had a gift certificate from work for a personal sized cake, ended up sitting on it for a while eventually figured I should use it. Called and told them I had the certificate and was told there was a minimum 2 week lead time, seemed a little much but ok, they asked for a name and phone number which I gave. Fast forward two weeks I stop on the way to work and they are closed my bad I should have checked the hours I admit. I never got any sort of call that the cake was done or that I should come pick it up anyway. The next time I could get over through town when they were open was Sunday as they are open untill 4 I was there a little before 2 a sign on the door said they are sold out and the door was locked. Rated 2 stars for overall general dissatisfaction, possibly keep to your business hours if you are going to run a business? Would if I could rate for other factors but I haven't even been able to get inside as of yet for the intended cake. Bemused, disappointed and most likley not even going to try anymore. Edit for response: there were 0 calls or voice-mails and the posted hours for Sunday are to 4pm, as the owner lies about such basic things I will never be a customer...

Stopped in because of a review that mentions awesome apple fritters. I LOVE good apple fritters, by far my favorite pastry. That particular morning they didn't have fritters so I got an assortment of other stuff. Croissants are amazing (got chocolate and ham & cheese), the wrapped polish sausage thing was fantastic, also got an apple sticky bun that was good enough to replace my fritter craving, which isn't easy to do. I got a half dozen of the maple bacon donuts because someone somewhere said they were really good..7 of us tried them and all agree the bacon should not be smoked. The smokiness overpowers even the maple flavor. It was a little disappointing simply because it seems impossible for a maple bacon anything to not be amazing. Also one of them was a little undercooked in the middle. We all agreed the rest of the stuff was delicious and we will all go back. This is a great bakery. Everything was fresh, priced right and the staff was very helpful and sweet and I can't wait to try...
