Vudu Street Food — Restaurant in New Richmond

So my wife and I decided to try Vudu for the first time Saturday night. We heard many good things about the food. As a couple we are trying to do our part to support local businesses especially during the pandemic. I called in my order for 2 New England lobster rolls ahead of time. I picked up my order, brought it home and to my dismay it was tacos. Not even lobster tacos but what looked the be beef or pork. I immediately called to let them know the mistake. The woman who answered the phone apologized for the mix up and stated she would put in a replacement order right away. I drove down to pick up my order. To my dismay the woman had no recollection of the conversation I just had with her. She actually asked me if my order was under a different name! I had to explain the mistake 3 times before she seemed to understand. She put in the order, that apparently had not been placed yet. When she brought my replacement order she only had 1 and not 2 I had ordered. I then had to wait more time for my second order meanwhile my lobster roll remained on the counter while the fries cooled. When I finally received my complete order there was no apology or offer to make amends. Overall the food was good but the service or rather the lack therein left a bad taste...

This is a favorite place to either eat in or take out. On a nice day, you can enjoy the weather and take a stool on the sidewalk. The dining room is cheerful and uniquely decorated. It is nice to see this old building showing its character and hospitality to the friendly patrons. The staff is welcoming and helpful and will always give me details about the weekly special. The menu offers a variety of foods not found elsewhere in the area. It is a great break from the fast food menus!! My favorites are the lobster rolls that are served on Friday and Saturdays, the Hawaiian pork tacos, the pulled pork on a pretzel bun, and the shrimp rice bowl. The appetizer favorites are the hoisin green beans, plantains, and the chili cauliflower. I usually upgrade the house fries to the parmesan truffle fries but the house cut fries, on their own, beat anything that I’ve tasted. I always save room for dessert. The crème brulee is outstanding but if that is not available, the cheesecake wrap is my second choice. They also have a kids menu and a great selection of domestic and craft beers as well as wines. Waited 40 minutes for our food, BEFORE I asked the server if we may of got forgotten, since 3 groups of people that came after us, received their food. Here, the cook misplaced our ticket. Mistakes happen. I get it. BUT I’ve worked in customer service for 5+ years. Offering a 10% discount next time I come (told her I live almost an hour away), is not how the situation should of been handled. First of all, the server should be aware of their surroundings and check on their guests. A simple check in, would of eliminated this simple mistake. Second of all, some sort of compensation right then and there, should of been how it was handled. Maybe offer the said guest a free soft drink while they wait. This is why Kwik Trip is as successful as they are. They always make sure the guests are completely satisfied. I hope you can learn from this situation and apply it with your future guests.
