I am writing this review because I was shocked at how I was treated today at lunch at Frank and Betsies by the gentleman, I assume to be the owner.
It was my first time to try the restaurant and I was meeting a friend of mine who also wanted to try it out. I know it has been a staple in Winnetka / Glencoe for many years and we had heard great things about the food, service and atmosphere.
Upon arrival, the woman asked how many would be dining and I told her just two of us. She promptly showed me to a table. Then the older gentleman came over and asked if I had a reservation. I told him no, that we did not see how to make a reservation. He SCOLDED me and told me that next time I NEED to have a reservation because they are very busy!
Look, I am a 50 year old pleasant woman who always tries to be kind but I do expect a level of respect when I chose to dine at an establishment. And because of his rudeness, I will NEVER return!
The server was lovely and I appreciated her willingness to help us. The food was just ok. But again, due to feeling like I was treated and scolded because I was a “bad girl” for not making a reservation and taking up space, I will not be back nor will I recommend this restaurant. I live in the community and am...
Read moreEverything from the food to the service and atmosphere at Frank & Betsie's is excellent. If you are looking for healthy, delicious food, this is place to go.
From their Colorado Lamb Shank to their salmon and chicken dishes, everything on the menu is delicious – and consistently so. Every entree also comes with a choice of soup or salad and rice or potato. The price is extremely reasonable. You cannot find such reasonable prices for outstanding food at any other restaurants in the surrounding area.
Michael and Jen are extremely friendly. Their attitude and service are top notch. They are so warm and friendly, my mood automatically perks up when I stop by to pick up my order after work weekday nights. They will take time to get to know you, remember you, and chat with you.
I haven't dined in at Frank & Betsie's yet, but the atmosphere is well-suited for people who want to have a nice, quiet dinner out – be it with family, a partner, or friends.
I have been a regular at Frank & Betsie's for three years now since the pandemic, and will continue to be for as long as the...
Read moreWe came in hungry from walking at the Botanic Garden and were seated for a quick, early lunch at around 12:00. Two other tables of 2 were getting started. There was a wait for water and ordering 1 onion, 1 butternut squash soup, the slamon appetizer and pate plate. We asked that they all arrive together. As the place filled, other tables were served food. One waitress .We got tasteless bread and rock hard butter during a long wait. Then we got tepid, mild flavored, SMALL bowls of soup ($9) - the butternut was very sweet - and waited another 20 minutes. When we finally caught our server's attention, she apologized for the delay saying the chef had come in late!! The pate loaf is in the display case needing a few pickles, lettuce leaves, and more of that bread; the salmon piece tasted like it had come out of the freezer and gotten heated up. It was hard and dry. We waited for the chef? We spent 1 1/2 hours and over $50, for an annoying, laughable...
