Let me start by saying I try my best to leave way more positive reviews than negative ones. Just went here for lunch today (12:45). Pros: it was clean (for the most part, there were fruit flies all over the dessert table tho). Cons: food was terrible. I tried multiple forms of chicken, an egg roll, both fried and white rice, noodles. Everything I ate was barely warm, and lacked in quality and flavor. The fried rice tasted as if it sat in the warmer over night and got re heated (barely). It had zero flavor and was old. The quality of the chicken was honestly disturbing, grizzly, and chewy plus more breading than chicken. The noodles also were just bad, flavorless and seemed old also. The egg roll was the most edible thing on my plate. I sat and waited to see if they would bring out fresh stuff and they did refill the fried rice and a few other things I did not want to try. I tried the “fresh” fried rice and it was still bad. I went for regular white rice and that had an odor of dawn dish soap. My son tried the chocolate pudding and he said it tasted funny (he is 5) so I had to try it and it tasted as if it was made with spoiled milk. This place is NOT it. From luke warm & cold food, flavorless and quality down right terrible. Sorry for being brutally honest ! I will not...
Read moreThe people that work here are always very nice, polite, and well dressed/clean. That is sadly the only nice thing I can say about it. The chicken in most dishes taste like it was boiled first, and it has the look as if it were boiled first, the noodles and rice dishes are dry inside and oily on the outside, nothing has flavor but the soups and even then it depends on the day with my favorite which is wonton soup. Sometimes you push it open and a giant bubble of oil comes out and the meat is chewy. The textures of most of the food is really off putting here and its so dissapointing because the smell you're greeted with when entering is amazing and I've only seen this place unclean one time and it was an extremely busy weekend near close on a short staffed day. Whether you order it or get it off the buffet, its going to taste the same. It tastes like they make everything in bulk and keep it in the freezer and reheat it when its needed which is unacceptable when what you sell is mainly sauted vegetables and grains. Someone needs retrained or replaced. No way around it. I've been giving this place a chance every six months for the passed four years. No...
Read moreAsian fare in New Ulm - I enjoy getting vegetarian spring rolls or crab wontons togo from Main Jiang House every once and a while. They are made to order with delicious fresh ingredients. I always have to remind myself to request hot mustard or sweet and sour sauce as none will be included automatically.
If I find myself hungry enough to share an entree with someone, I would suggest one of the following: Honey Chicken or Szechuan Prawns, both tasty on a bed of fluffy white rice. Main Jiang House does offer an all day dine in buffet or togo box sold by weight. Some of the restaurants favorites are available in an all you care to eat fashion. However, the menu of the offerings never changes. After a couple years of visits once every other week… you may find the magic of cravings start to wear out. Food quality is always acceptable, staff is friendly and environment is clean and...
