Place itself is extremely small, quiet, and the sitting arrangements at the bar are so tight, it was almost impossible to get into the chair. As a result, It felt like the entire restaurant is in my business.
When making the reservation I was asked on the phone to come on time in order for me to get the proper "omakase" experience which is what I believed I was going to get when I chose it as my dinner option. However, the staff didnt seem to care about any of the diners. The hostess took a few minutes to even acknowledge us after we sat down, and I couldn't understand a word the so called omakase "chef" said. He pretty much mumbled through the entire service, so I still don't know exactly what I ate. Worst yet, everyone was in such a hurry to leave that they were cleaning and preparing to close in front of my eyes despite the fact it was still before closing time, and what I am paying for was the "experience" of omakase
As far as the food goes, the fish was pretty much average and the rice for the sushi was falling apart. The portion size for each piece of sushi was tiny. As for the "desert", the mochi I got felt like it was store bought and the texture was way too frozen.
All of this would've been fine except then the bill came, as I am still sitting there hungry after a "15 course meal" which was much smaller than expected but tasted ok, and a desert that was definitely subpar, and the price was absolutely obscene! Especially for the quality and the tiny amount that I got. To make matters somehow even worst, the price already included 18% tip and the tax was applied to the entire amount including that tip.
I am shocked anyone even chooses to eat in that place. If it wasn't for the obscene price it would've been a somewhat average and forgettable experience. However, with the price point in mind, that is by far the worst experience I have ever had in a restaurant. The quality and especially the tiny portions definitely do not justify half of what I paid. I would recommend this place to absolutely no one. As a matter of fact I will from now on actively ask for people to never give this scam of a restaurant a chance.
I'm already used to paying ridiculous prices in kosher restaurants but this is a new low as I didn't...
Read moreFor an omakase restaurant it sure lacks the Omakase experience. We arrived at the restaurant and picked the 15 course meal. They forgot about our sake and didn’t bring it out until after the appetizers and third course. The chef barely spoke to us and literally served the pieces so fast in a rush to leave and left!!! As in left home!!! We were stunned to see him bail out of the restaurant. There was no time to enjoy the meal it was literally just thrown at us so fast. Chef barely spoke any English and we couldn’t understand what each piece was or maybe he was just rushing to leave and kept cutting us short. For a $450 omakase dinner for two I would have expected at least some omakasa experience. It was literally just us and two other couples so it’s not like the kitchen was crushing. Disappointing! There wasn’t any special flavoring, fish didn’t seem fresh and the taste was dull, and that’s aside from the fact that the rice was falling apart. Don’t get fooled by the good reviews here those are all by local guides. Save your money and go somewhere else. Should be noted that my review is for the...
Read moreWe went in for lunch on a Sunday, we ordered two chef lites and a cripsy rice tuna.
The crispy rice tuna kind of felt like a rice katsu with avocado and tuna smeared on top. It wasn't exactly satisfying or tasty for 22 dollars. Overpriced and not very tasty.
The chef lites were okay. The makis were just scraped tuna bits with a green pepper strips. The sashami pieces were nothng special. The sushi pieces were pretty decent. Out of the sushi lite, we had 4 decent pieces. 35 dollars for 4 satisfactory pieces is extremely ovepriced.
My least favorite part was the mandatory gratuity on the check. It's one thing if we had a chef make our pieces in front of us. However, it was just a waiter who brought prepped pieces from the kitchen. We probably had about 5 minutes of interaction for a mandatory gratuity (20%) of 18 dollars. We're not cheap tippers but I dislike it when a restaurant charges mandatory gratuity.
We won't be coming back. There are much better alternatives...
