Okay, rating of 1 for effort right? I wish I could rate lower... Here's my experience:
I'll start with the fact that this restaurant was booked as the venue for my uncle's repass. I am not from the area and traveled to this establishment with the highest hopes of attending to attend to my mourning family with ease.
Upon entering this business, it appeared beautifully set up with the arrangement that was presented in the small space utilized. No one greeted anyone, no one assisted with letting individuals know that there were appetizers available and no one even dared to give any ounce of a condolence based on the occasion.
Moving on, appetizers are being served until a batch of tasteless soup joumou comes out - people were made aware by observing others get up on their own and head to the serving area.
On to the next, a few of us figured while we wait on the actual food to come out, we'd have a few sips from what was displayed behind the bar; however, to our surprise, the bar was "closed" and we were advised that there was no available bartender. No bartender and a closed bar for a repass!? An occasion that calls for different types of mourning and grief outlets!?
Let's continue, food is finally out - again, no announcement, no direction, just observation of one person getting up and leading the way. The food was minimal and the amount given to each guest was peasant-like.
I ended up leaving soon after the food was served and was told that my sister, who is a NY resident, got into it with the owner. Apparently, she was asking for too much?
I was livid. I already had my reserves about the place upon entering it - mean-mugging, lazy and unprofessional staff and now, to hear that the OWNER shared words? It's the audacity, it's the disrespect, the continued unprofessionalism and improper etiquette.
In conclusion, spending so much money was USELESS - first and last time. As a fellow Haitian, shame on you for not utilizing the PRIDE that is supposedly instilled...
Read moreExcellent and very tasty, marinated, fried goat (Cabrít), yet terribly overpriced! I went there for the first time, and it is the last time I will ever go. The service was unfortunately terrible. The 1st person attending me seemed to not understand that I wanted only Cabrít. She then said she spoke only Creole and pointed to another person whilst she took a Creole speaking customer.
I understand human err, and that it was a busy Memorial Day weekend, but I traveled there only for the Cabrít. I was given a small amount of Cabrít which barely filled 40% of the container, as it was the last tray and remainder of Cabrít. At first they said it would be half price, at $7.00 then another counter person, came along and stated that $14.00 was the price and that the other counter person made an pricing error. So now, the new person coaxed me to purchase rice and other foods, but I kindly declined and told them I had only come for their renowned Cabrít... After I paid, the same employee made a heaping container (of the same size, ) of meat, rice and other food for a Creole speaking customer that came after well after me and was served before me. They could barely close the container, and charged only $14.00! I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed the meager, overpriced portion of Cabrít, yet I can get the same delicious, tasty Cabrít at other local Haitian restaurants in the area for $10.00 a...
Read moreFirst and last time! 1- Very loud band, waitress can’t hear you and you can’t hear anyone at your table to have a conversation. (Do not need giant speaker for a space that size) 2- No menu (waitress gave the very limited dishes available. 3- Placed a jug of water on the table and never took our drink other at the beginning or anytime during the meal. 4- brought a “plate” of salad and placed it on the table with smaller plates for “us” to share. 5-Took close to 20 mins to take our order and 40mins to bring the order. When the order came they brought the meats and not the rice. Rice came after the meat was eaten or close to being finished since everyone was starving at that point. 6- two people ordered the same thing and instead of bringing the food separately they combined it and we were left to separate it. 7- when I told the waitress the rice is way too late and we don’t need it anymore since the meat had already been eaten she just rolled her eyes at me and gave me the “well I don’t know what to tell you face”. And continued to put the rice on the table. Which again was also combined because someone else got the same rice as me. 8- ordered fried chicken expecting nice crunchy fried chicken. When it came it was skinless chicken leg that was fried until it was hard and dry. NEVER...
