The staff (group of serving women) is hurting the owner's business. I've read many reviews and the common complaint is about the rudeness and unprofessionalism of the staff. My rating of 1 star is due to the servers and disgusting customer service they provide. These servers are a bunch of no class, nasty, disrespectful, unprofessional group of women. Their facial expression and body language sends a message that they hate their job! and the world owes them. From the time you enter the door, you can feel and see the negative energy. I frequent this restaurant (which will change) and have not seen any changes in the attitude of these women. As a matter of fact, they take nasty and rudeness to another level. The prior staff were not pleasant as well, but when comparing, they were 100x better then the staff working currently. There are a total of 5 women serving, but there are 2 that stands out. The one who serves the meat (she's over the top nasty). She is the first person you will encounter. She doesn't address you like a human being and speaks to customers as if she is in the market place. The other over the top nasty individual is the one who serves the rice (she has acne marks and wears glasses). Both of these women needs to look for another job. They should not be around customers having this kind of attitude. I agree with one viewer who stated that if this business was located elsewhere, it would not be operational. Customer services is a plus for business growth. The food is not cheap and the portion size has decreased since this new staff started. When you order meat, you get bones and gravy (sauce). Even though you specify that you do not want the "fat" when you get home to eat, that's when you realized that "fat and gravy" is what you received. The owner and the person at the register are so nice and I think this is why I and other customers still frequent there. Not sure if the owner is aware that his customers are tired of his unprofessional workers. I hope that God for 2019 will bring blessings to the owner of this restaurant by sending him better staff so he can let go of the current. The food at Good Taste Catering lacks the zest and spiciness usually associated with Haitian food which compels me to believe that the cooking is not done by Haitians or Haitians who know much about our cuisine. If you're not used to eating great Haitian food at home, there were a few places right here in Queens where you could have had some, and here they are: (1) Moulin Vert --- This place has been close over 15 years but served the best Haitian food I had ever had outside of my home — i.e., when the food was freshly cooked, had not been stored in the refrigerator for a few days, and hadn't been reheated several times over. (2) Brasserie Creole --- Served good food at a time, but not during the last few years before they closed. (3) Le Vicomte as well as La Chaumière served great food too but unfortunately for the community they didn't stay in business for too long. I guess their "wanga" wasn't strong enough or was altogether nonexistent.
I patronized frequently those four restaurants I just described and I enjoyed many of their dishes immensely. I am sorry to say that I cannot say the same for Good Taste Catering. In fact, I'd advise the owner/the management of Good Catering to hire a couple of good Haitian cooks to improve the overall taste of the dishes that they serve, and to stop serving the clientele week old "Soupe Jouroumou." Read moreI have been going to this restaurant for about 20 years..The food is great, they never disappoints. However, today one of the servers was rude & very nonchalant.. I asked for onions on my griot she said "there's none, then she proceeded to lift up the onion container telling me you see there's none!" I asked for fried fillet fish, I didn't see any displayed.."She said there's none." She could of said, it will be ready in five minutes. Whilst I'm in the line, I saw the chef bringing out the fried fillet fish.. I went back to order the fish, she paid me no mind, when I asked for onions, with the fish.. She just handed the container to the other side.. I have never had a problem with any of their staff members.. I refuse to spend my money and have to deal with an obnoxious server 😒 I called to speak with the owner, I was told they don't know where she went.
