CAFÉ VALDEZ — Restaurant in New York

Review based on UberEATS/GrubHub orders:

First time I ordered via UberEATS, they took FOREVER to get to me despite being a 10 minute drive away. The delivery driver made it 2 minutes before the "latest arrival time", which was almost 2 hours after I ordered, so UberEATS refused to refund any part of my $60+ order. Food was completely cold. However, it was pretty good so I decided to give them another shot.

Ordered via GrubHub this time at 7pm with an ETA of 7:45. I gave them a call at 8:20 since my food hadn't arrived and wasn't able to be traced since restaurant staff was supposed to deliver. The woman who picked up the phone only spoke Spanish and claimed there was NO ONE in the ENTIRE restaurant who spoke English.... I get that it's a Spanish restaurant, but does this mean that they only serve Spanish people?? How is anyone who can't speak Spanish expected to order or solve issues? So in broken Spanish, I managed to tell her what was going on. She said that their GrubHub wasnt working and just told me repeatedly they couldn't do anything about it. When I questioned why they accepted the order and why were still open on grubhub she just told me to call GrubHub.... Luckily GrubHub refunded my money, but it's extremely frustrating that the restaurant staff didn't even say sorry once or try to make up for it. Never ordering from here again and I suggest you never do from online food...

Came here with a friend. I had their special. It was the veggie soup accompanied with rice & beans. Food was tasty & yummy! My friend agrees that the food is delicious too, The only reason I don't give this place more stars is for several reasons: They add an "automatic tip" with no heads up or notice Also, this is more of a Colombian restaurant than Mexican. It claims to be half Mexican but I barley saw any Mexican dishes (I wanted tacos, not on the menu). This place leans more towards a Colombian restaurant. Terrible service ! I went with my family and one of my family members ordered a burger and asked it to be done without any cheese , tomato and onions my sister is lactose intolerant we politely asked to get the burger changed because the burger came with cheese the server who says he name was Veronica was very rude and said it was out fault and that we had not ordered without cheese and didn’t want to change it. I’m not sure if her name is actually Veronica because the receipt had another name on it. This wasn’t the only she got wrong and didn’t want to change either...
